The comments came piling in on Friday as the White House announced efforts to fight supposed COVID-19 misinformation in conjunction with the social media giant.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) tweeted Big Tech was partially to blame after censoring early treatments, which cost lives. He said instead of a forum for solutions, social media has become a tool for \u201cbig brother\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Exactly what is the Surgeon General calling misinformation? &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Without specifics, he is guilty of his own accusation. <\/p>\n<p>His job is to provide the public information they need to make an informed choice. &nbsp;He should respect their intelligence and freedom. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SvGk3iFUKi\">https:\/\/t.co\/SvGk3iFUKi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senator Ron Johnson (@SenRonJohnson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenRonJohnson\/status\/1415845861054111748?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden was asked his thoughts on platforms like Facebook and supposed COVID-19 misinformation on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re killing people,\u201d he claimed. \u201c\u2026The only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated and they\u2019re killing people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conservative critics pointed out Facebook has aligned itself with the party that\u2019s blaming it for people\u2019s deaths and every corrupt regime has framed the silencing of citizens as being in the public good.
