Speaking to reporters on Friday, Psaki was questioned over the White House\u2019s concern that the Delta variant could be more widespread than initially thought.<\/p>\n<p>This comes amid a surge of Delta variant cases and COVID-19 hospitalizations in the U.S., along with several officials reevaluating mask mandates. Los Angeles County recently reimposed mask mandates regardless of an individual\u2019s vaccination status. The order was set to go into effect on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Estimates show the Delta variant caused over half of recent <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a> cases in the United States.
