[Fulton County election director] Rick Barron and Ralph Jones, Fulton\u2019s registration chief, must be fired and removed from Fulton\u2019s elections leadership immediately. Fulton\u2019s voters and the people of Georgia deserve better,\u201d Raffensperger said in a tweet Thursday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.560563380282\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fulton County\u2019s continued failures have gone on long enough with no accountability. Rick Barron and Ralph Jones, Fulton\u2019s registration chief, must be fired and removed from Fulton\u2019s elections leadership immediately. Fulton\u2019s voters and the people of Georgia deserve better.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (@GaSecofState) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GaSecofState\/status\/1415692351176052738?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Raffensperger made the call after nearly 200 ballots were revealed to have been double-counted in the November election before a recount. There is no indication that the double-counted ballots impacted the final vote totals of either former President Donald Trump or President Joe Biden after three statewide recounts, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/some-ballots-initially-double-counted-in-fulton-before-recount\/GY4FTEEI6REIJN3SDKIDNIOYV4\/\">The Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery of double-counted ballots is another example in a string of election controversies that have sprung from Fulton County dating back years. In an effort to rein in Fulton County\u2019s ongoing election issues, the state and county agreed to have an independent observer watch over the county\u2019s election procedures in 2020. The observer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2021-06\/Unabridged%20Notes.pdf\">report<\/a>, made public last month, detailed a series of issues from miscommunication to workers failing to handle ballots properly.<\/p>\n<p>Raffensperger has been increasingly critical of Fulton County\u2019s handling of the 2020 election. Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chair Rob Pitts, a Democrat, has accused Raffensperger of targeting Fulton to play up Trump\u2019s allegations of widespread voter fraud, despite Raffensperger\u2019s own defense of the integrity of Georgia\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis ultimate goal is based on the provisions of Senate Bill 202, he would like to take over the elections in Fulton County, That is not going to happen, period,\u201d Pitts said after Raffensperger called for Barron and Jones\u2019 firings. \u2018I think all of this is an effort to cast doubt for the 2022 and 2024 elections. That\u2019s the only thing this could be over because the past elections are over, votes have been counted, elections have been certified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fulton County\u2019s election board <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-georgia-judge-approves-audit-of-145000-absentee-ballots-in-fulton-county\">attempted<\/a> to remove Barron from his position in February. The election board\u2019s vote was overruled by the county Board of Commissioners, leaving Barron in place.<\/p>\n<p>In December, amid recounts, Raffensperger put the blame for questions about Georgia\u2019s election results squarely on Fulton County, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fulton-county-election-board-votes-to-fire-election-director-after-2020-dysfunction\">accusing<\/a> it of mishandling the election and violating procedures laid out by the Secretary of State\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real issue is a Fulton County employee made several compounding errors,\u201d Raffensperger said at the time. \u201cInstead of following the procedures that my office and the vendor laid out, Fulton County once again cut corners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUs and our office, and I think the rest of the state, is getting a little tired of always having to wait on Fulton County and always having to put up with their dysfunction,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Pitts at the time continued to defend Fulton\u2019s handling of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is outrageous that Fulton County continues to be a target of those who cannot accept the results from last year\u2019s election,\u201d Pitts said. \u201cThe votes have been counted multiple times, including a hand recount, and no evidence of fraud has been found.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact remains that Fulton County safely and securely carried out an election in the midst of a public health crisis,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
