Former President <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/05\/20\/title-42-quick-return-illegal-aliens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Donald Trump<\/a> implemented Title 42 to expel migrants from the country during the novel coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The official reportedly told the outlet once the migrants are released from border patrol they would be essentially free to remain in the U.S. Some immigrants skip court hearings that are sometimes not scheduled for two years after they are detained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBorder Patrol agents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and customs officers are stretched thin trying to protect and secure our border,\u201d the senior official reportedly said. \u201cAsking them to process roughly 6,000 people a week undoubtedly strain already thin resources and increase human trafficking and drug smuggling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials across several immigration agencies are now preparing for a humanitarian crisis at the border once <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/02\/alejandro-mayorkas-customs-and-border-protection-migrant-protection-protocols\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Title 42<\/a> is rescinded, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of these people will become permanent residents,\u201d a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official told Free Beacon. \u201cThere\u2019s no political will from the Biden administration to deport families once they\u2019re already admitted. The White House knows that. The end of Title 42 will result in de facto open borders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Agents are also reportedly worried about the new COVID-19 delta variant. They claim the Biden administration\u2019s end to policies meant to ensure public health, like Title 42, would have grave consequences, the Free Beacon reported.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have pushed back against plans to scrap Title 42, with House Democrats blocking a Republican-led amendment in June that would prevent Biden\u2019s administration from ending the policy. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/06\/covid-19-surge-ice-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: COVID-19 Infections Surge In Crowded Immigration Detention Centers)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Republican New Mexico Rep. Yvette Herrell said her Pause Act would protect Americans from the ongoing pandemic, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/scoop-white-house-eyes-ending-migrant-family-expulsion-b6d0a178-001e-41e8-9f5b-17cc7547cccc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Axios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTitle 42 is the only major Trump-era border policy left in place under the administration.
