The advisory appears to be just a warning of the risks and likely won\u2019t go too much in depth, experts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/16\/business\/united-states-hong-kong-china-business-intl-hnk\/index.html?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_topstories+%28RSS%3A+CNN+-+Top+Stories%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe situation in Hong Kong is deteriorating, and the Chinese government is not keeping its commitment that it made [on] how it would deal with Hong Kong,\u201d Biden explained. \u201cAnd so it is more of an advisory as to what may happen in \u2013 on Hong Kong. It\u2019s as simple as that and as complicated at that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The situation in Hong Kong has been <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/10\/31\/hong-kong-protests-halloween-mask\/\">tumultuous<\/a>. Mass pro-democracy <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/11\/11\/hong-kong-protester-shot-2\/\">protests<\/a> broke out in 2019, resulting in China implementing a wide-ranging national security law. The law gives Beijing more control over Hong Kong and criminalizes actions it views as challenging authority.<\/p>\n<p>Some critics argue the move will be \u201cthe end of Hong Kong,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-china-52765838\">according<\/a> to a previous report by the BBC. Former President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-53412598\">ended<\/a> preferential economic treatment for Hong Kong following the national security law and sanctioned several Chinese <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/07\/trump-china-sanctions-hong-kong-tiktok-bytedance-tencent-carrie-lam-hong-kong\/\">officials<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis law, purportedly enacted to \u2018safeguard\u2019 the security of Hong Kong, is in fact a tool of CCP repression,\u201d former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/07\/trump-china-sanctions-hong-kong-tiktok-bytedance-tencent-carrie-lam-hong-kong\/\">said<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. is reportedly planning more sanctions against Chinese officials because of Hong Kong, Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/us-sanction-chinese-officials-warn-companies-over-hong-kong-sources-2021-07-15\/\">reported<\/a> Thursday. The relationship between the U.S. and China has continued to struggle, with Brock Silvers, chief investment officer for Hong Kong-based Adamas Asset Management, describing it to CNN as \u201cincreasingly contentious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, the advisory is unlikely to \u201cpack an immediate punch,\u201d Silvers predicted.
