A Communist Party committee in central China shared the video after the original channel removed it.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.2196531791908\">\n<p lang=\"zh\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CCP?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CCP<\/a> Vows to Nuke <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Japan?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Japan<\/a> if Japan defends <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Taiwan?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Taiwan<\/a>. Since 1964, China has pledged to not use a nuclear weapon first in a conflict, a linchpin of the United States&#8217;s own nuclear deterrent policy. Risking nuclear war in a potential showdown over Taiwan could have dire consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Japan on Tuesday <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/davidaxe\/2021\/07\/15\/in-a-warning-to-china-japans-new-strategy-paper-mentions-taiwan-for-the-first-time\/?sh=599b7ce734a9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>released<\/span><\/a><span> its 2021 defense strategy, which mentions the defense of Taiwan for the first time. In July, Japanese deputy prime minister <\/span><span>Taro Aso had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asia.nikkei.com\/Politics\/International-relations\/Indo-Pacific\/Japan-s-No.-2-raises-possibility-of-joining-US-in-defending-Taiwan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>raised<\/span><\/a><span> the possibility of joining the United States in the defense of Taiwan<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>China also appears to be gaining ground in developing its own nuclear strength. Satellite images released in June show the construction of 100 nuclear missile silos in the Gobi Desert. A June <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/report-china-expands-nuclear-weapons-arsenal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>report<\/span><\/a><span> claimed China increased its nuclear arsenal by 30 missiles in the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, are pushing to limit the United States&#8217;s nuclear capabilities, even as top military officers warn about the threat from China. A July <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/senate-dems-press-biden-administration-to-shrink-nuclear-weapons-arsenal\/\"><span>letter<\/span><\/a><span> drafted by Sens. Jeff Merkley (D., Ore.) and Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) urged the Biden administration to cut the United States&#8217;s only ground-based missile defense program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The narrator in the threatening video also warns that China will not stop lobbing missiles at Japan until an unconditional surrender is reached.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;If Japan interferes militarily in our internal affairs, including the unification of Taiwan by the mainland, nuclear weapons will surely be used against Japan,&#8221; the narrator says, &#8220;and will be used continuously until its unconditional surrender.
