No cause has been determined for what led to the building collapsing, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/live-updates-miami-area-condo-collapse\/2021\/06\/30\/1011670548\/as-condo-warnings-mounted-town-officials-demanded-only-minor-changes\"><span class=\"s1\">there may have been prior indications<\/span><\/a> and warnings that the building was unstable.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hanzman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2021\/07\/14\/judge-approves-sale-of-site-of-surfside-condo-collapse\/\"><span class=\"s1\">said<\/span><\/a>, \u201cThis is obviously a case where there\u2019s no amount of money that could possibly be available to compensate these families from their suffering and loss,\u201d adding, \u201cWhile there\u2019s no money in the world that can do that, the law places value on claims, and these claims are going to have to be valued. The court has no doubt the aggregate value of the claims that the law will place on them is going to far exceed all amounts available for recovery, both by way of insurance proceeds, assets and third-party claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe court-appointed receiver handling finances related to the condo, attorney Michael Goldberg, said the judge wanted the sale to move quickly,\u201d The Guardian noted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cHe wants us to start exploring a potential sale,\u201d Goldberg said of the judge in an email to the outlet. \u201cHe did say he wants the land to be sold and the proceeds to go directly to the victims as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Goldberg reportedly added that the action did not necessarily prevent someone who buys the property from transforming the area into a site for a memorial.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judge put the lawsuits on a fast track and authorized Goldberg to begin disbursing insurance money to victims and families,\u201d The Guardian added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/discussions-begin-for-surfside-condo-memorial-mayor-calls-collapsed-building-a-holy-site\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a> earlier this week, the community of South Florida was beginning to weigh how best to honor the lives that were lost in the collapse.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of emotion. People talk about it as a holy site,\u201d said Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez. \u201cPeople want some sort of connection with their family member.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcmiami.com\/news\/local\/surfside-weighs-how-to-honor-lost-souls-at-holy-site\/2493205\/\"><span class=\"s1\">NBC Miami,<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;the mayor of Surfside, Charles Burkett, made a suggestion on Monday that it\u2019s too early to specify any plans since many people are still in the grieving process, but he noted that the event obliges something to be put at the location to honor the people who died.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI think the first thing we need to do is get the families situated, so they have a semblance of their life back \u2014 get them to the point where they aren\u2019t burdened by the grief and emotion that they\u2019re going through right now,\u201d said Burkett. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt\u2019s obvious that this has become much more than a collapsed building site,\u201d Burkett said. \u201cIt has become a holy site.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Wednesday evening, the death toll was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2021\/07\/14\/death-toll-in-surfside-condo-collapse-rises-to-96-one-more-victim-identified\/\"><span class=\"s1\">raised<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;to 97 people. Out of the 97 people who died, 90 have been identified and 88 families have been informed. Eight people are left potentially unaccounted for as of now.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As The Daily Wire&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exhausted-every-option-crews-switching-to-recovery-effort-as-condo-collapse-death-toll-grows\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;last week, the search and rescue mission was changed to a search and recovery effort in order to recover the remains of any people who died in the tragedy. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAccording to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/joe-biden-fl-state-wire-florida-surfside-building-collapse-da3696a7a3ca55c50374bc9b7afb123a\"><span class=\"s1\">The Associated Press<\/span><\/a>, Miami-Dade Assistant Fire Chief Raide Jadallah informed families Wednesday afternoon that they would no longer use dogs and listening devices, both of which were deployed when rescue teams were looking for survivors.&nbsp;\u2018Our sole responsibility at this point is to bring closure,\u2019 said Jadallah,\u201d The Daily Wire noted.<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
