Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-1233962471-scaled-e1626206002635.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" \/><\/div>\n<p>President Joe Biden slammed Republicans while highlighting the right to vote and the need to \u201cdefend democracy\u201d during his speech Tuesday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Biden issued a stark view of election laws being enacted across the country, calling the ongoing fight a \u201ctest of our time.\u201d Speaking at the National Constitution Center, the president spent time calling out Republicans, the Supreme Court decision on voting laws and the \u201cassault on free and fair elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"subtitle1511\" class=\"subtitle processed selfragment\" data-id=\"1511\" data-start=\"3192422\" data-end=\"3195192\">\u201cNo other election has ever been<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1512\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1512\" data-start=\"3195325\" data-end=\"3198028\">held under such scrutiny, and<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1513\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1513\" data-start=\"3198028\" data-end=\"3199663\">such high standards.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1514\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1514\" data-start=\"3200030\" data-end=\"3201198\">The \u2018big lie\u2019<\/span><span id=\"subtitle1514\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1514\" data-start=\"3200030\" data-end=\"3201198\"> is just that.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1515\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1515\" data-start=\"3203600\" data-end=\"3208438\">A big lie,\u201d Biden exclaimed, calling the 2020 election \u201c<span id=\"subtitle1489\" class=\"subtitle processed selfragment\" data-id=\"1489\" data-start=\"3133964\" data-end=\"3136967\">the most<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1490\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1490\" data-start=\"3136967\" data-end=\"3139469\">scrutinized election ever in<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1491\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1491\" data-start=\"3139603\" data-end=\"3140637\">American history.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"subtitle1526\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1526\" data-start=\"3250146\" data-end=\"3251114\">In America if you lose, you<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1527\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1527\" data-start=\"3251248\" data-end=\"3255252\">accept the results, you follow<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1528\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1528\" data-start=\"3255385\" data-end=\"3261424\">the Constitution,\u201d he continued, targeting Republicans who have said the election was stolen. \u201c<\/span><span id=\"subtitle1529\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1529\" data-start=\"3261558\" data-end=\"3262092\">You try again.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1530\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1530\" data-start=\"3262092\" data-end=\"3262559\">You don\u2019t call facts fake and<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1531\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1531\" data-start=\"3262692\" data-end=\"3264094\">try to bring down the American<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1532\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1532\" data-start=\"3264227\" data-end=\"3265195\">experiment just because you\u2019re<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1533\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1533\" data-start=\"3265328\" data-end=\"3265528\">unhappy.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1534\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1534\" data-start=\"3265662\" data-end=\"3269599\">That\u2019s not statesmanship.<\/span> <span id=\"subtitle1536\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1536\" data-start=\"3273103\" data-end=\"3274671\">That\u2019s not statesmanship.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1537\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1537\" data-start=\"3275105\" data-end=\"3275205\">That\u2019s selfishness.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1538\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1538\" data-start=\"3275338\" data-end=\"3276206\">That\u2019s not democracy.<\/span> \u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The president focused part of his speech on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For The People Act<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Lewis Voting<\/a> Rights Advancement Act, promising to \u201csign it and let the whole world see it\u201d as soon as the bills are passed by Congress. Biden touted the For The People Act as one that would end voter suppression and called on Congress to pass it. The sweeping Democratic voting rights bill <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/22\/chuck-schumer-joe-manchin-senate-voting-rights-bill-mitch-mcconnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">was killed<\/a> in June when Senate Republicans voted unanimously against beginning a debate.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called the For The People Act \u201cDemocrats\u2019 transparent plan to tilt every election in America permanently in their favor.\u201d Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer slammed Republicans at the time, declaring \u201crot at the center\u201d of the party.<\/p>\n<p>The bill would omit voter ID requirements and expand mail-in voting, among other provisions. Republicans have pushed to reform election processes, with states like Georgia enacting stricter voting ID laws and limiting mail-in voting, causing Democrats to argue voter suppression.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"subtitle1580\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1580\" data-start=\"3408238\" data-end=\"3410240\">\u201cThat bill would end voter<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1581\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1581\" data-start=\"3410240\" data-end=\"3412742\">suppression in states,\u201d Biden declared Tuesday.<\/span> \u201c<span id=\"subtitle1582\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1582\" data-start=\"3412876\" data-end=\"3413476\">Get dark money out of politics.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1583\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1583\" data-start=\"3413576\" data-end=\"3414244\">Give a voice to people.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1584\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1584\" data-start=\"3414244\" data-end=\"3416546\">Create a fair district map and <\/span><span id=\"subtitle1585\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1585\" data-start=\"3416646\" data-end=\"3419816\">end partisan political<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1586\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1586\" data-start=\"3420250\" data-end=\"3420283\">gerrymandering.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1587\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1587\" data-start=\"3420417\" data-end=\"3422786\">Last month, Republicans opposed<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1588\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1588\" data-start=\"3422919\" data-end=\"3426256\">even debating, even considering<\/span> F<span id=\"subtitle1589\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1589\" data-start=\"3426256\" data-end=\"3428792\">or The People Act.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1590\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1590\" data-start=\"3428925\" data-end=\"3431261\">Senate Democrats stood united to<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1591\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1591\" data-start=\"3431394\" data-end=\"3434264\">protect our democracy and the<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1592\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1592\" data-start=\"3434264\" data-end=\"3436266\">sanctity of the vote.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"subtitle1593\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1593\" data-start=\"3436332\" data-end=\"3439903\">\u201cWe must pass the For The People<\/span> Act<span id=\"subtitle1594\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1594\" data-start=\"3440270\" data-end=\"3440270\">.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1595\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1595\" data-start=\"3440303\" data-end=\"3441438\">It\u2019s national imperative.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1596\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1596\" data-start=\"3441571\" data-end=\"3443673\">We must also fight for the John<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1597\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1597\" data-start=\"3443807\" data-end=\"3446276\">Lewis Voting rights<\/span> A<span id=\"subtitle1598\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1598\" data-start=\"3446276\" data-end=\"3452715\">dvancement Act to restore<\/span><span id=\"subtitle1600\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1600\" data-start=\"3456286\" data-end=\"3458288\">&nbsp;and expand voting<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1601\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1601\" data-start=\"3458354\" data-end=\"3458955\">protection.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"subtitle1602\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1602\" data-start=\"3459289\" data-end=\"3460690\">To prevent voter suppression,\u201d he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/01\/joe-biden-condemns-supreme-court-arizona-voting-law-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">slammed<\/a> the Supreme Court, which recently ruled to uphold Arizona\u2019s voting law. In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that states can pass laws aimed at preventing voter fraud on July 1. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/12\/07\/elections-2020-arizona-dominion-voting-systems-decertification-trump-biden\/\">Arizona\u2019s<\/a> voting law, condemned by Democrats and activist groups, places <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/07\/ron-desantis-florida-election-law-ballot-drop-boxes-ballot-harvesting-third-party-volunteer-water-food\/\">restrictions<\/a> on out-of-precinct voting&nbsp;and ballot harvesting. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/12\/arizona-doug-ducey-election-bill-stops-voters-automatically-receiving-absentee-ballots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Arizona Adopts Election Reform Bill That Stops Some Voters From Automatically Receiving Absentee Ballots)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The president said during his speech that this ruling \u201c<span id=\"subtitle1607\" class=\"subtitle processed selfragment\" data-id=\"1607\" data-start=\"3470300\" data-end=\"3473303\">weakened the Voting<\/span> R<span id=\"subtitle1608\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1608\" data-start=\"3473303\" data-end=\"3474938\">ights Act\u201d and said the burden is now on Congress to restore it \u201c<span id=\"subtitle1619\" class=\"subtitle processed\" data-id=\"1619\" data-start=\"3498328\" data-end=\"3499496\">to its intended strength.\u201d He said democracy had been \u201cput to the test\u201d in 2020, highlighting \u201cthe violent and deadly insurrection on our Capitol\u201d before predicting that the country will \u201cface another test in 2022\u201d in the form of \u201cunprecedented voter suppression and raw and sustained election subversion.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll be asking my Republican friends in Congress and state and cities and counties to stand up for God sake and help prevent this concerted effort to undermine our election and the sacred right to vote!\u201d Biden exclaimed. \u201cHave you no shame? \u2026 We have to work together. Founders understood this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War. That\u2019s not hyperbole.
