Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saying] \u2018I need therapy for the rest of my life\u2019 afraid, but I could understand it, and I didn\u2019t like seeing it at all,\u201d Kelly added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBut that does not mean that\u2019s what the entire crowd was there for,\u201d Kelly continued. \u201cSo they got tarred by the actions of some losers who went a different way. And then the media did what it does, which is any bad behavior gets attributed to the entire group of Trump supporters.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The reaction to Kelly\u2019s fairly uncontroversial statements only added weight to her accusations. For example, Rep. Ted Lieu \u2014 not exactly known for nuance \u2014 tweeted, \u201cDear Megyn Kelly: I reviewed a lot of videos and evidence for the second impeachment trial. The most accurate way I can say this is that you have no idea what you are talking about. 140 police officers were injured, some critically. People died. Why are you downplaying Jan 6?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.718100890208\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dear Megyn Kelly: I reviewed a lot of videos and evidence for the second impeachment trial. Why are you downplaying Jan 6? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/u8Glp2Yp8u\">https:\/\/t.co\/u8Glp2Yp8u<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tedlieu\/status\/1415008134830051332?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Usually, the Left loves \u201cspectrums.\u201d Sex and gender, for example, lie on a spectrum \u2014 at least according to their \u201cexperts.\u201d Sex isn\u2019t binary, they declare. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Conversely, when it comes to notions that <\/span><i><span>do<\/span><\/i><span> lie on a spectrum \u2014 such as \u201cbad things\u201d compared to other \u201cbad things\u201d \u2014 they apply an invalid binary system. Something is either \u201cgood\u201d or \u201cbad,\u201d and two \u201cbad things\u201d are equally bad. If you suggest that one \u201cbad thing\u201d isn\u2019t as \u201cbad\u201d as another \u201cbad thing,\u201d you are guilty of arguing that this \u201cbad thing\u201d is actually \u201cgood.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sounds like nonsense, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>That\u2019s because it is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The events which occurred on January 6 were objectively terrible. This statement, in isolation, is unquestionably true. However, questioning alternative interpretations or presentations of this event has no impact on this isolated truth, despite the Left\u2019s protests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Remember, January 6 is being presented by the Left as a defining moment in modern American history, often in the same breath as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/its-a-travesty-to-compare-the-capitol-siege-to-9-11-11622153451\"><span>9\/11<\/span><\/a><span>. By applying their binary logic, the Left is trying to force Americans to ignore reality and embrace this absurd hyperbolic rhetoric, else they are labeled as \u201cdownplaying\u201d the Capitol riot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>We should refuse, and refuse boldly. Yes, January 6 was terrible, but it exists along a spectrum of \u201cbad-ness.\u201d Some things are better, some things are worse. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Let\u2019s live in this reality, rather than the Left\u2019s cynical binary dream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Ian Haworth is an Editor and Writer for The Daily Wire.
