And it \u2014 and it isn\u2019t happening, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Applause could be heard as Berenson continued, \u201cYounger people\u2026\u201d after which Tapper cut off the video.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Tapper said, \u201cI\u2019m going to cut him off right there because he just goes on to just say things that are not true about the vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cBut what I wanted to get your reaction to is the crowd cheering when this gentleman talks about how the government was not able to achieve a 90% vaccine goal. The crowd cheered,\u201d Tapper said. \u201cAs a public health official, what\u2019s your reaction when you hear that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cIt\u2019s horrifying,\u201d Fauci answered. \u201cI mean, they are cheering about someone saying that it\u2019s a good thing for people not to try and save their lives. I mean, if you just unpack that for a second, Jake, it\u2019s almost frightening to say, hey, guess what, we don\u2019t want you to do something to save your life. Yay. Everybody starts screaming and clapping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">He went on, \u201cI just don\u2019t get that. I mean, I \u2014 and I don\u2019t think that anybody who is thinking clearly can get that. What is that all about? I don\u2019t understand that, Jake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Tapper went on to discuss vaccine mandates, noting, \u201cI know you have been very clear that the government isn\u2019t mandating vaccines, but do you think it\u2019s generally a good idea for businesses or schools to require vaccinations?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Fauci responded, \u201cI have been of this opinion, and I remain of that opinion, that I do believe, at the local level, Jake, there should be more mandates. There really should be. We\u2019re talking about life-and-death situation. We have lost 600,000 Americans already, and we\u2019re still losing more people.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cThere have been four million deaths worldwide. This is serious business. So, I am in favor of that,\u201d he added.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/transcript-dr-anthony-fauci-on-face-the-nation-july-11-2021\/\"><span class=\"s1\">CBS\u2019s \u201cFace the Nation\u201d<\/span><\/a> on Sunday, Fauci made similar comments, saying, \u201cit is almost inexplicable why people, when they see the data in front of them that they don\u2019t get vaccinated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you hear people at rallies talking, don\u2019t get vaccinated, don\u2019t get vaccinated. John, it doesn\u2019t make any sense because we\u2019re talking about a public health issue that is life saving for you, your family, as well as your community,\u201d Fauci added. \u201cSo you\u2019re right, we are in a very difficult position. We have more vaccines in this country than we know what to do with everybody and anybody can get vaccinated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">In May, Biden&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/05\/04\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-announce-goal-to-administer-at-least-one-vaccine-shot-to-70-of-the-u-s-adult-population-by-july-4th\/\"><span class=\"s1\">announced<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;that he was setting a goal \u201cfor 70% of the U.S. adult population to have one vaccine shot and 160 million U.S. adults to be fully vaccinated by July 4,\u201d per a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/05\/04\/fact-sheet-president-biden-to-announce-goal-to-administer-at-least-one-vaccine-shot-to-70-of-the-u-s-adult-population-by-july-4th\/\"><span class=\"s1\">White House fact sheet.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The U.S. still hasn\u2019t met that goal with CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#vaccinations\"><span class=\"s1\">data<\/span><\/a> showing that 67.7% of adults have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine and over 152 million Americans are fully vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
