Mattingly II during a training exercise in preparation for the Lunar Landing Mission.\u201d It dates back to February 1972, according to the description.&nbsp;<span><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/03\/04\/fact-check-neil-armstrongs-space-boots-not-match-footprint-moon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Do Neil Armstrong\u2019s Space Boots Not Match A Footprint He Left On The Moon?)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apollo 16 launched on April 16, 1972, landed on the moon on April 20, 1972, and returned to the Earth\u2019s surface on April 27, 1972, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lpi.usra.edu\/lunar\/missions\/apollo\/apollo_16\/overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lunar Planetary Institute<\/a>.
