The cost for a seat on a Virgin Galactic flight is usually $250,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/omaze-and-sir-richard-branson-to-make-history-by-sending-two-people-to-space-aboard-a-virgin-galactic-flight-301331139.html\"><span>press release<\/span><\/a><span> from Omaze reads:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><i><span>The Omaze sweepstakes will support Space for Humanity, a nonprofit seeking to democratize space and send citizen astronauts of diverse racial, economic, and disciplinary backgrounds to space.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Participants can enter for the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime galactic journey: two tickets to experience microgravity at the edge of space aboard Virgin Galactic\u2019s VSS Unity, the same spacecraft that carried Sir Richard Branson to space and back this morning.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>On Sunday, Branson became the first human to enter space on his own vehicle. As <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/branson-wins-billionaire-space-race-hits-53-miles-above-earth-in-rocket-plane\"><span>The Daily Wire<\/span><\/a><span> reported:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><i><span>The mothership WhiteKnightTwo took off with SpaceShipTwo \u2014 also known as VSS Unity \u2014 attached in between its twin fuselages. At about 46,000 feet, the mothership then released SpaceShipTwo, which ignited its rocket engines, climbing vertically. The spacecraft soared at Mach 3 \u2014 more than 2,300 miles per hour \u2014 to its apogee at about 282,000 feet (53.4 miles) high. Then it began its descent and the four passengers \u2014 who did not wear spacesuits or helmets and had no need to supplemental oxygen \u2014 experienced weightlessness for a couple minutes. SpaceShipTwo then re-entered the Earth\u2019s atmosphere \u2014 causing a double sonic boom \u2014 and glided back to land at a runway.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cLadies and gentlemen, there it is. I can\u2019t wait for you all to get up there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Blue Origin \u2014 the rocket company started by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos \u2014 is set to launch its first manned flight on July 20. As with Branson, Bezos will accompany his company\u2019s crew.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Indeed, Blue Origin slammed Virgin Galactic for purportedly failing to truly enter space: \u201cFrom the beginning, New Shepard was designed to fly above the K\u00e1rm\u00e1n line so none of our astronauts have an asterisk next to their name.
