You have to actually be anti-racist,\u201d Freier said. \u201cBeing neutral is actually part of the problem.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Freier told employees and storefront owners that it is important to be \u201crespectful\u201d of different viewpoints, seemingly including those that call for burning and looting. The executive vice president said in one email that employees should respect the belief that it\u2019s appropriate to \u201cburn this whole place down.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI want to be respectful about different points of view here. Some people believe that the only way we get meaningful change in this country is to burn this whole place down,\u201d Freier said. \u201cIf you believe that\u2019s outrageous, I\u2019m telling you I\u2019ve gotten feedback from reasonable people who believe that \u2026 What I know is that this violence is not random. It\u2019s important to remember why this is happening.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>T-Mobile was particularly impacted by the Black Lives Matter riots that took place between May 31 and June 8, 2020. Insurance specialists have estimated the riots caused billions of dollars in damages. CEO Mike Sievert acknowledged in an email that \u201cdozens of our stores in cities nationwide have been significantly damaged, burned, and looted.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In Royal Palm Beach, Florida, a minority storefront owner told local news that he was \u201churt\u201d and \u201cfrustrated\u201d after looters ransacked his store and caused $50,000 to $60,000 in damage. Business owner Salim Minek told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/region-c-palm-beach-county\/royal-palm-beach\/looters-ransack-t-mobile-store-in-royal-palm-beach\"><span>WPTV<\/span><\/a><span> that the looters \u201cpretty much destroyed the whole store.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The property destruction added to the store owner\u2019s existing financial stress caused by the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns. T-Mobile\u2019s CEO promised to \u201crepair and rebuild\u201d the stores \u201cover time.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The company\u2019s human resources officer Deeanna King, a white woman, also sent an email to employees encouraging them to read the New York Times\u2019 ahistorical \u201c1619 Project\u201d and \u201cThe New Jim Crow\u201d by Michelle Alexander. Suggested videos included Boston University professor and \u201canti-racist\u201d scholar Ibram X. Kendi explaining the difference between racism and \u201cantiracism\u201d on CBS News.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>King also seemed to indicate that black Americans face more racism than other minority groups.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMany groups are the target of racism, however, we need to acknowledge the danger the Black community faces on a daily basis from the racism in our society,\u201d King\u2019s email read.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to an email from Freier about Hispanic Heritage Month, 30% of T-Mobile\u2019s employees are Hispanic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>T-Mobile upped its \u201ccommitment\u201d to diversity, equity, and inclusion in 2021 by offering leadership training that was apparently for black employees only. The company promised to send two \u201cBlack leaders\u201d to the \u201cBlack Leadership Academy,\u201d which is offered through the consulting firm McKinsey &amp; Company.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A whistleblower within T-Mobile told The Daily Wire that he was concerned that the company was violating the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission\u2019s (EEOC) rules on prohibited employment practices.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt is illegal for a training or apprenticeship program to discriminate on the bases of race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information,\u201d the EEOC <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/prohibited-employment-policiespractices\"><span>website<\/span><\/a><span> reads. \u201cFor example, an employer may not deny training opportunities to African-American employees because of their race.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>T-Mobile executives did not respond to requests for comment.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
