Jacobs has denied the allegations, and Garcetti has said he did not witness any inappropriate behavior.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cMayor Garcetti has been clear that he takes any allegations of harassment very seriously and has made clear this type of misconduct is unacceptable in his office in any form. He has also said that he never witnessed this behavior nor was told about it prior to the litigation,\u201d a White House spokesperson said Friday before restating Biden\u2019s confidence in his selection, per the Post.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Los Angeles area struggled during COVID-19 as it faced intense lockdowns which partly resulted in people leaving the city. Under Mayor Garcetti, the homelessness problem in Los Angeles also became more of an issue and he has faced criticism over his inability to combat it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laalmanac.com\/social\/so14.php\"><span class=\"s1\">Los Angeles Almanac<\/span><\/a>, \u201cOn June 12, 2020, Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority issued its&nbsp;<span class=\"s3\">first release of&nbsp;2020&nbsp;results<\/span>&nbsp;from the annual homeless count taken in January. The count revealed a&nbsp;12.7 percent increase in homelessness&nbsp;for Los Angeles County from 2019 to 2020. The city of Los Angeles saw a 14.2 percent increase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/07\/09\/biden-names-more-ambassador-nominees-tapping-eric-garcetti-for-india-post-498971\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a> by Politico, Garcetti was interested in an ambassador position to Mexico. \u201c<span class=\"s4\">He was passed over for several posts in administration,<\/span>&nbsp;including Transportation secretary, and had been interested in a high-profile post, with one close ally saying he angled for ambassador to Mexico. (Garcetti is half-Mexican and half-Jewish.),\u201d per the outlet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/07\/09\/president-biden-announces-his-intent-to-nominate-four-individuals-to-serve-as-ambassadors\/\"><span class=\"s1\">announced<\/span><\/a> additional nominations for ambassadors, and noted that Garcetti has pushed for climate change initiatives as mayor of Los Angeles. \u201cGarcetti co-founded Climate Mayors and led more than 400 U.S. mayors to adopt the Paris Climate agreement.&nbsp; He is the current Chair of C40 Cities \u2013 a network of 97 of the world\u2019s biggest cities taking bold climate action and has led the organization\u2019s engagement and expansion in India as well as C40\u2019s global response to the COVID pandemic through the sharing of best practices and resources,\u201d the White House noted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As the Los Angeles Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-07-09\/la-mayor-garcetti-nominated-us-india-ambassador-biden\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>, Garcetti \u201cwould become the first L.A. mayor to voluntarily leave office before the end of his term&nbsp;<span class=\"s1\">in more than a century<\/span>.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Garcetti, in a statement about his appointment, said he loves Los Angeles and \u201cwill always be an Angeleno.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI have committed my life to service \u2014 as an activist, as a teacher, as a naval officer, as a public servant, and if confirmed, next as an ambassador,\u201d he said. \u201cPart of that commitment means that when your nation calls, you answer that call.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
