He had previously refused President Joe Biden\u2019s resignation request, although Biden had <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/20\/biden-administration-acting-agency-heads-government-senate-confirmation-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> that he would continue to run the SSA during the early days of his administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI consider myself the term-protected Commissioner of Social Security,\u201d Saul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/andrew-saul-social-security-\/2021\/07\/09\/c18a34fa-df99-11eb-a501-0e69b5d012e5_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> The Washington Post. He added that he will attempt to log in to work remotely on Monday, and threaten to sue if he can not do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was the first I or my deputy knew this was coming,\u201d Saul said of his firing. \u201cIt was a bolt of lightning no one expected. And right now, it\u2019s left the agency in complete turmoil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Commissioner David Black handed in his resignation upon request.<\/p>\n<p>The White House is expected to cite a Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/courts_law\/supreme-court-rules-a-consumer-regulators-structure-unconstitutional\/2020\/06\/29\/c7246c06-ba14-11ea-80b9-40ece9a701dc_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ruling<\/a> that the structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was unconstitutional in defense of the firing. The Trump administration sued after an Obama-appointed official refused to step down. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/07\/06\/leandra-english-quits-cfpb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Leandra English Waves The White Flag In The Battle Over The CFPB)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince taking office, Commissioner Saul has undermined and politicized Social Security disability benefits, terminated the agency\u2019s telework policy that was utilized by up to 25 percent of the agency\u2019s workforce, not repaired SSA\u2019s relationships with relevant Federal employee unions including in the context of COVID-19 workplace safety planning, reduced due process protections for benefits appeals hearings, and taken other actions that run contrary to the mission of the agency and the President\u2019s policy agenda,\u201d a White House official told The Post.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"6.9198113207547\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I agree with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChuckGrassley?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ChuckGrassley<\/a>.
