These denials protect male privilege from being fully acknowledged, lessened, or ended,\u201d the director continued. \u201cI think whites are carefully taught not to recognize white privilege, as males are taught not to recognize male privilege.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>McIntosh continued to claim that \u201cwhite privilege\u201d is \u201can invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was \u2018meant\u2019 to remain oblivious.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The curriculum includes McIntosh\u2019s 50 \u201cdaily effects of white privilege\u201d that insinuate that black people are unable to buy homes in desirable neighborhoods, find mentors, or find academics.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Examples include:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>\u201cIf I should need to move, I can be pretty sure of renting or purchasing housing in an area which I can afford and in which I would want to live.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cI can talk with my mouth full and not have people put this down to my color.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cI can be pretty sure of finding people who would be willing to talk with me and advise me about my next steps, professionally.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>\u201cI can easily find academic courses and institutions which give attention only to people of my color.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>McIntosh concluded that \u201cwhite advantage\u201d is \u201cstrongly inculturated\u201d in the United States, while also dubbing meritocracy and equality of democracy a \u201cmyth.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt seems to me that obliviousness about white advantage, like obliviousness about male advantage, is kept strongly inculturated in the United States so as to maintain the myth of meritocracy, the myth that democratic choice is equally available to all,\u201d McIntosh concluded.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A spokesperson for Arkansas Rep. Rick Crawford told The Daily Wire that they are under the impression that the McIntosh reading has been \u201cpulled and will not be used.\u201d However, the assignment was still on the agenda as of 11:21 a.m. on Friday with a \u201cclarification\u201d note.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the clarification note, faculty members are not required to cover the McIntosh \u201cwhite privilege\u201d reading, though they are free to include it. The note claims that the article is meant to prompt discussion, \u201ceven empathizing with person[s] taking opposing positions,\u201d presumably to the existence of white privilege.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Arkansas GOP Rep. Bruce Westerman told The Daily Wire that he is calling on the Arkansas Governor\u2019s School to \u201cimmediately end the use of these racist materials.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe fact that the proliferation of these putrid, anti-American ideals are slated to be taught to our state\u2019s future leaders through the funding of our tax dollars is shameful,\u201d Rep. Westerman said. \u201cAs Americans, and as members of the human race, we must reject these misguided teachings that seek to create divisions based upon no criteria other than gender, social status, or skin color.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Gov. Asa Hutchinson \u2014 who <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/551609-arkansas-governor-allows-bill-targeting-critical-race-theory-in-state\"><span>refused<\/span><\/a><span> to sign legislation outlawing critical race theory in schools \u2014 did not respond to The Daily Wire\u2019s request for comment.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
