It is a theory. It is a lens by which to view history and the way that law and race kind of overlaps [sic] and connects in society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ridgeway then backs down. \u201cCan it influence the way that some teachers teach? Uh, yeah, but that\u2019s a good thing, right? Because race and racism is [sic] literally the building blocks of this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ridgeway shows CNN the books she uses in her class, including \u201cCritical Race Theory: The Key Writings that Formed the Movement\u201d \u2014 and the late socialist Howard Zinn\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/news.stanford.edu\/news\/2012\/december\/wineburg-historiography-zinn-122012.html\">error-rich<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cA People\u2019s History of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m creating little free thinkers and future politicians, and lawyers, and teachers, and changemakers,\u201d says Ridgeway. \u201cI\u2019m teaching children to question America. And that\u2019s what makes a good patriot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The public school teacher then explicitly ties her pedagogy to shaping her students\u2019 political beliefs and future voting patterns. \u201cNot only do they become critical thinkers, they also become voters, and that is what\u2019s scaring a lot of these people because they know that as this generation gets older, a lot of these people that are making these laws will be voted out of office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite a taxpayer-funded schoolteacher admitting she is proselytizing students on behalf of a far-left political agenda, Reeve portrays any concern over such teaching materials as the erroneous product of a well-funded, right-wing disinformation campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRelentless propaganda from some conservatives has created a panic that white people, and especially white children, are under attack,\u201d says Reeve, the disinterested journalist. She later adds, \u201cAnti-CRT propaganda is drawing big crowds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As parents have become aware of CRT\u2019s aims and principles, polls have shown the majority of Americans oppose teachers using them as the interpretive \u201clens\u201d inside U.S. history or civics classrooms. Its advocates have responded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/here-are-5-ways-the-media-is-trying-to-mislead-you-on-critical-race-theory\">denying<\/a> that anyone teaches CRT and accusing Republicans of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-media-has-entered-the-republicans-pounce-stage-of-critical-race-theory\">pouncing<\/a> on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCritical Race Theory is not taught in elementary schools, or middle schools, or high schools,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-teacher-union-prez-claims-crt-is-not-taught-in-k-12-schools-anti-crt-activists-are-bullying-teachers\">said<\/a> Randi Weingarten, the president of the nation\u2019s second-largest teachers union, the American Federation of Teachers. \u201cCulture warriors are \u2026 bullying teachers and trying to stop us from teaching students accurate history.\u201d But as The Daily Wire\u2019s Chrissy Clark reported, the AFT previously <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AFTunion\/status\/1392087091618648066?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1392087091618648066%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fwatch-teacher-union-prez-claims-crt-is-not-taught-in-k-12-schools-anti-crt-activists-are-bullying-teachers\">tweeted<\/a> its support of CRT as \u201can irreplaceable lens with which we can view our difficult history,\u201d alongside a photo of students studying in school.<\/p>\n<p>Weingarten\u2019s denial that CRT is being taught in public schools came just days after the National Education Association <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nations-largest-teachers-union-says-it-will-teach-critical-race-theory-in-all-50-states-1400-school-districts\">vowed<\/a> at its annual convention to teach CRT nationwide and to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/national-education-association-vows-to-investigate-groups-opposed-to-critical-race-theory-being-taught-in-schools\">investigate<\/a> anyone leading a grassroots backlash.<\/p>\n<p>To paper over the discrepancies in her reporting, Reeve employs all the hallmarks of legacy media bias. She uses laden language. (Has she ever described environmentalists\u2019 exaggerations or myths as \u201cpropaganda\u201d?) Every one of Reeve\u2019s questions to Ridgeway <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/how-the-media-use-and-abuse-interviews-to-push-their-narrative\">contains an invitation<\/a> to explain her views, while every question posed to CRT opponents contains an accusation. While Reeve never interrupts Ridgeway, she frequently interrupts nearly every critic of CRT.
