We are thrilled that they will bring their insights and research to what is already a world-class, highly accomplished team of professors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/26\/nikole-hannah-jones-joining-faculty-university-of-north-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> that Hannah-Jones would be joining the faculty of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in April, but she said in an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NAACP_LDF\/status\/1412385771693215749\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> Tuesday that the university\u2019s backtrack of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/19\/university-north-carolina-no-longer-offer-1619-project-nikole-hannah-jones-tenured-position\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tenure<\/a> in May led her to pass on the position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be denied it, to only have that vote occur on the last possible day, at the last possible moment, after threat of legal action, after weeks of protest, after it became a national scandal, it\u2019s just not something that I want anymore,\u201d she said, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nc-state-wire-nikole-hannah-jones-education-6e192586fbbc0b8788db9613314a444e?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;utm_medium=AP&amp;utm_source=Twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are at a critical juncture in our democracy, and yet our press does not reflect the nation it serves and too often struggles to grasp the danger for our country as we see growing attacks on free speech and the fundamental right to vote,\u201d Hannah-Jones said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Coates is currently working on a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/26\/superman-movie-reboot-j-j-abrams-ta-nehisi-coates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Superman<\/a>\u201d reboot with a black lead and will join the university after completing several responsibilities, the statement said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/09\/07\/coates-trump-presidency-is-a-negation-of-having-a-black-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Coates: Trump Presidency Is A \u2018Negation\u2019 Of Having A Black President)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard a wise man once say, \u2018A man who hates home will never be happy.\u2019 And it is in the pursuit of wisdom and happiness that I return to join the esteemed faculty of Howard University.\u201d Coates said. \u201cPersonally, I know of no higher personal honor than this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Howard University did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
