You have filmmakers that don\u2019t have a clue what they\u2019re doing,\u201d Dorff said. \u201cWe\u2019re all in these little boxes on these streamers. TV, film \u2013 it\u2019s all one big clusterf**k of content now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The one-time star of the Marvel-based franchise, \u201cBlade,\u201d took particular aim at comic book films, saying he would never want to do a film like upcoming release \u201cBlack Widow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still hunt out the good s**t because I don\u2019t want to be in Black Widow,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cIt looks like garbage to me. It looks like a bad video game. I\u2019m embarrassed for those people. I\u2019m embarrassed for Scarlett [Johansson]! I\u2019m sure she got paid five, seven million bucks, but I\u2019m embarrassed for her. I don\u2019t want to be in those movies. I really don\u2019t. I\u2019ll find that kid director that\u2019s gonna be the next Kubrick and I\u2019ll act for him instead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marvel fans on Twitter immediately mocked the 47-year-old, but Dorff is hardly alone among his peers.<\/p>\n<p>As the Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/martin-scorsese-shreds-marvel-movies-says-theyre-not-cinema\">reported<\/a>, legendary director Martin Scorsese has said much the same thing of comic book movies. Describing them as \u201cnot cinema,\u201d he said in 2019, \u201cHonestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn\u2019t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scorsese\u2019s friend Francis Ford Coppola defended this assessment, saying, \u201cWhen Martin Scorsese says that the Marvel pictures are not cinema, he\u2019s right, because we expect to learn something from cinema, we expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration. I don\u2019t know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again.\u201d The director of the Godfather series took the criticism one step further, arguing, \u201cMartin was kind when he said it\u2019s not cinema. He didn\u2019t say it\u2019s despicable, which I just say it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More recently, actress Emily Blunt has said while there was a time she would have been thrilled to play a superhero in a Marvel movie, her feelings have changed. \u201cI don\u2019t know if superhero movies are for me. They\u2019re not up my alley. I don\u2019t like them. I really don\u2019t,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/emily-blunt-fantastic-four-casting-rumors-marvel-john-krasinski-2021-5\">told<\/a> Howard Stern in May. \u201cIt\u2019s been exhausted,\u201d she said of the genre overall. \u201cWe are inundated\u2014it\u2019s not only all the movies, it\u2019s the endless TV shows as well.
