The news comes two months after Bill and Melinda Gates filed for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bill-melinda-gates-announce-divorce\"><span>divorce<\/span><\/a><span> and days after trustee <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/warren-buffett-resigns-gates-foundation\/\"><span>Warren Buffett<\/span><\/a><span> stepped down from the Gates Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the nonprofit\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesfoundation.org\/ideas\/media-center\/press-releases\/2021\/06\/gates-foundation-commits-2-1-billion-to-advance-gender-equality-globally\"><span>press release<\/span><\/a><span>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"21\">\n<p><i><span>As part of the Generation Equality Forum convened by UN Women and co-hosted by the governments of Mexico and France, the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation today announced a commitment of $2.1 billion over the next five years to advance women\u2019s economic empowerment, strengthen women and girls\u2019 health and family planning, and accelerate women\u2019s leadership.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>This reaffirms and expands the foundation\u2019s commitment to family planning and women\u2019s health, with a focus on increasing options and access to contraceptives and support for a network of family planning partners, including UNFPA Supplies Partnership, Family Planning 2030, the Global Financing Facility, and the new Shaping Equitable Market Access for Reproductive Health initiative.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cWomen and girls already faced unique barriers to their full participation in social and economic life, and the latest data show that the pandemic has only sharpened gender disparities,\u201d remarked Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, in the statement. \u201cEach data point represents a woman fighting for a better future, and this funding reflects our longstanding commitment to support all women in their fight for a fairer and more equal world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2012, the Gates Foundation <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.familyplanning2020.org\/bill-and-melinda-gates-foundation\"><span>committed<\/span><\/a><span> $1 billion to \u201chelp reach the goal of providing 120 million additional women with contraceptives, information, and services by 2020.\u201d The organization has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesfoundation.org\/ideas\/media-center\/press-releases\/1999\/10\/international-planned-parenthood-federation991013\"><span>donated<\/span><\/a><span> millions to Planned Parenthood chapters across the globe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>President Biden\u2019s most recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/5-things-you-need-to-know-about-bidens-latest-budget-proposal\"><span>budget<\/span><\/a><span> proposal did not include the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/devout-catholic-joe-biden-paves-way-for-federal-funding-of-abortion-6-trillion-budget-request-ends-hyde-amendment\"><span>Hyde Amendment<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 a statute that has prevented federal taxpayer dollars from bankrolling abortions for the last four decades. Before lawmakers enacted the Hyde Amendment, federal funds paid for the deaths of 300,000 preborn babies each year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the most recent annual report from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/5-disturbing-insights-from-planned-parenthoods-annual-report\"><span>Planned Parenthood<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 which carries out roughly one-third of abortions in the United States \u2014 the organization killed 354,871 babies in the past year. Planned Parenthood also extended its efforts to promulgate transgender hormone treatment and LGBTQ \u201csexuality education\u201d for public schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The organization stresses that it also provides services unrelated to abortion.
