I can assure you that this event in 1988 in no way reflects my beliefs and principles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI ask for forgiveness from those who have been hurt by this, those I may have embarrassed, and from the people who have taken time in their lives to educate me about the hurt my actions caused,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.2094240837696\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">DORAN: Blackface at 1988 costume party leads to resignation as administrative judge for the Seventh Judicial District. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/V7KIw3prlI\">pic.twitter.com\/V7KIw3prlI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bob Lonsberry (@BobLonsberry) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BobLonsberry\/status\/1410973745506766850?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Monroe County Bar Association weighed in on the matter via a statement, underscoring that \u201cactions of individuals\u201d can be condemned \u201cwithout condemning the individuals themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudge Doran has been a champion of diversity within the bench and bar and has worked with the MCBA in its attempts to bring about real and substantive change,\u201d the statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxxinews.org\/post\/craig-doran-rochesters-chief-judge-steps-down-over-racist-photo\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe can all condemn the actions of individuals without condemning the individuals themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxxinews.org\/post\/craig-doran-rochesters-chief-judge-steps-down-over-racist-photo\">highlighted<\/a> by WXXI News, the&nbsp;Seventh Judicial District covers eight counties in upstate, NY: Monroe, Cayuga, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, and Yates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state\u2019s chief administrative judge, Lawrence Marks, released a statement saying that the process for choosing Doran\u2019s successor would begin soon and that state Supreme Court Justice William Taylor will serve as acting administrative judge in the interim,\u201d the report noted.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear which celebrity Judge Doran dressed up as at the party.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2019, a resurfaced yearbook reportedly showed Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) in&nbsp;either blackface or wearing a KKK robe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNortham initially apologized for the photos but a day later claimed he was not in them and didn\u2019t know how they made it onto his page, which he was responsible for,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/governor-who-wore-blackface-demands-investigation-into-alleged-racism-at-virginia-military-institution\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported. \u201cBut as Northam was insisting he wasn\u2019t in the widely circulated blackface photo, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/disaster-ralph-northam-denies-hes-racist-photo-ryan-saavedra\">admitted<\/a> to wearing blackface on another occasion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday I took responsibility for content that appeared on my page in the Eastern Virginia Medical School yearbook that was clearly racist and offensive. I am not and will not excuse the content of the photo,\u201d Northam said back in February 2019. \u201cIt was offensive, racist, and despicable.
