You get it\u2014or at least you once did,\u201d the lawmakers told Biden, reminding the president that he formerly opposed abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYears ago, you wrote a constituent explaining that a law against funding for abortion would \u2018protect both the woman and her unborn child,&#8217;\u201d the lawmakers wrote. \u201cYou wrote: \u2018I have consistently\u2014on no fewer than 50 occasions\u2014voted against federal funding of abortions\u2026those of us who are opposed to abortion should not be compelled to pay for them.\u2019\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/11\/26\/joe-biden-evolve-abortion-hyde-amendment\/\">(RELATED: Here\u2019s How Joe Biden Has Evolved On Abortion)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The letter is led by Republican Indiana Rep. (Photo by Joshua Roberts\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Biden\u2019s proposed budget would not only also increase funding for abortion providers both internationally and in the U.S., the lawmakers said, it also provides additional funds to the United Nations Population Fund, though the UNFPA complies with China\u2019s forced family planning policies.<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans noted that the budget would also repeal the Dornan Amendment preventing Washington, D.C., tax dollars from being used for abortions. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/22\/biden-pro-life-catholic-roe-v-wade-codify\/\">(RELATED: Pro-Life Leaders Condemn \u2018Devout Catholic\u2019 Biden Over His Vow To \u2018Codify\u2019 Roe V. Wade)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Hyde Amendment&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/news\/559593-gop-attorneys-general-call-for-biden-the-bring-hyde-amendment-back\">first passed<\/a>&nbsp;in 1976 and bans the use of federal funds for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/10\/manchin-hyde-amendment-abortion\/\">abortions<\/a>. Biden has repeatedly promised to repeal the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/26\/republicans-hyde-amendment-biden-abortion-jim-banks\/\">Hyde Amendment<\/a>, and his assurances are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/24\/gop-hdye-amendment-abortion-doug-lamborn-biden\/\">backed<\/a> by Democratic leadership and pro-abortion advocates pushing to axe the amendment from acts of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, who&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/11\/26\/joe-biden-evolve-abortion-hyde-amendment\/\">formerly said he was opposed to abortion<\/a>&nbsp;as a Catholic, supported the Hyde Amendment up until June 2019. At the time, presidential candidates Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, along with former Mayor Pete Buttigieg and then-Sen.
