On Wednesday, Pennsylvania\u2019s Supreme Court overturned Cosby\u2019s sex assault conviction. The state\u2019s high court ruled Cosby had been denied his Fifth Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>This decision came after the district attorney chose not to criminally charge one case and Cosby later testified in the civil case related to those charges. However, the district attorney\u2019s successor chose to move forward with criminal charges in that case and used Cosby\u2019s testimony from the civil proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>While arriving outside his home upon being released, Cosby was met with cheers by his supporters and legal team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, we are thrilled to have Mr. Cosby home,\u201d stated attorney Jennifer Bonjean. \u201cHe served three years of an unjust sentence and he did it with dignity and principle.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Attention: America. They are lying to you again. Here are the facts: Contrary to the reports that you have been reading in the media, Mr. Cosby was never charged nor convicted of rape. Mr. Cosby was convicted of aggravated indecent assault, for which he maintains his innocence. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XvGw0CZcsA\">pic.twitter.com\/XvGw0CZcsA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bill Cosby (@BillCosby) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillCosby\/status\/1398344131408187395?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Once known as \u201cAmerica\u2019s dad,\u201d the 83-year-old was convicted in 2015 of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman back in 2004. While his conviction was overturned, Gloria Allredd, an attorney representing dozens of women who have accused the actor of sexual assault, noted the court\u2019s decision does not clear Cosby\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite the Pennsylvania Supreme Court\u2019s decision, I want everyone to know that I do believe this was a very important fight for justice,\u201d Allredd stated. \u201cAnd even though the court did overturn the conviction, it was on technical grounds.
