Weisselberg has rejected the prosecutor\u2019s attempts at gaining his cooperation, the WSJ reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.2802547770701\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cIt\u2019s interesting and not surprising that they would approach the Trump Organization to tell them that they\u2019re considering to charge them because that would be almost a death blow to the Trump Organization\u201d \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danielsgoldman?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@danielsgoldman<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/t5FqGC0KDt\">pic.twitter.com\/t5FqGC0KDt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Deadline White House (@DeadlineWH) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DeadlineWH\/status\/1408546967186292738?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 25, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The sources remained anonymous in the WSJ\u2019s reporting of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Trump himself isn\u2019t expected to be charged, his lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/28\/trump-manhattan-da-cy-vance-charges-tax-returns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Monday. Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/28\/trump-prosecutors-new-york-statement-crime-charge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accused<\/a> the Manhattan district attorney\u2019s office of \u201csearching for a crime\u201d and being \u201ctotally biased\u201d in how the attorney is treating him and his organization. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/29\/trump-tv-news-ratings-dropped-left-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018A Wonderful Thing To See\u2019: Trump Celebrates Plummeting TV News Ratings Since He Left Office)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter hundreds of subpoenas, over 3 million pages of documents, 4 years of searching, dozens and dozens of interviews, and millions of dollars of taxpayer funds wasted, they continue to be \u2018in search of a crime\u2019 and will do anything to frighten people into making up the stories or lies that they want, but have been totally unable to get,\u201d Trump said onMonday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow they just leaked that we were given one day, today, to make our case about things that are standard practice throughout the U.S. business community, and in no way a crime,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump Organization\u2019s lawyers tried Monday to stop New York prosecutors from charging, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trump-organization-lawyers-make-last-ditch-effort-to-avoid-new-york-charges-11624919170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WSJ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Fischetti, Trump\u2019s lawyer, said he has never seen the district attorney\u2019s office charge a company over employee compensation or benefits, according to the WSJ. \u201cEven the financial institutions responsible for causing the 2008 financial crisis, the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, were not prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Manhattan district attorney\u2019s office and the Trump Organization have not responded to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>This charge is a part of a more extensive criminal probe into the Trump Organization allegedly overvaluing and undervaluing its assets on loan, tax and insurance documents for financial gain, according to the WSJ.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump Organization filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/22\/trump-organization-donald-trump-bill-de-blasio-new-york-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawsuit<\/a> against New York City in June.
