Reilly (@ryanjreilly) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ryanjreilly\/status\/1409574075761111040?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As highlighted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/unarmed-grandmother-first-to-be-sentenced-in-january-6-capitol-breach-says-shes-reading-about-americas-race-relations\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, a 49-year-old unarmed grandmother of five presiding in&nbsp;Indiana on Friday was the first to be sentenced in relation to the breach \u2014 a breach some in the media have <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/campaign\/556510-hating-trump-is-no-excuse-for-comparing-1-6-to-9-11\">likened<\/a> to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn unarmed grandmother from Indiana on Wednesday was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/first-capitol-rioter-to-be-sentenced-receives-probation-after-condemning-fellow-rioters-in-court\">the first to be sentenced<\/a> in connection to the January 6 Capitol breach after she pleaded guilty to one charge of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/unarmed-grandmother-first-to-be-sentenced-in-january-6-capitol-breach-says-shes-reading-about-americas-race-relations\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported. \u201cA judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indystar.com\/story\/news\/crime\/2021\/06\/23\/capitol-riot-sees-1st-sentence-given-indianas-anna-morgan-lloyd\/5309991001\/\">sentenced<\/a> Anna Morgan-Lloyd to&nbsp;three years of probation, $500 in restitution, and 40 hours of community service. Under the terms of her probation, the 49-year-old is also banned from owning a firearm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Morgan-Lloyd did not participate in any violence and was only in the Capitol building for an estimated 10 minutes, according to court documents. The agreement helped her avoid a potential six months behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m ashamed that it became a savage display of violence that day,\u201d Morgan-Lloyd said in court, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indystar.com\/story\/news\/crime\/2021\/06\/23\/capitol-riot-sees-1st-sentence-given-indianas-anna-morgan-lloyd\/5309991001\/\">according<\/a> to the IndyStar. \u201cI would\u2019ve never been there if I had a clue it was going to turn out that way because it was never my intent to be a part of anything that is so disgraceful to the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s attorney bizarrely had her client&nbsp;read books like \u201cBury my Heart at Wounded Knee\u201d and watch Netflix\u2019s \u201cMudbound\u201d and documentaries \u201cSlavery by Another Name\u201d and \u201cTulsa Burning: The 1921 Race Massacre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the content was referenced in&nbsp;Morgan-Lloyd\u2019s mea culpa to the court, which was apparently vital in the agreement for probation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of these defendants are not going to do what you did. They\u2019re not going to say they did anything wrong.
