But let me be clear. This fight is far from over\u2014far from over. I\u2019ve been engaged in this work my whole career, and we are going to be ramping up our efforts to overcome again\u2014for the people, for our very democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was <a href=\"https:\/\/factba.se\/biden\/transcript\/joe-biden-press-conference-briefing-jen-psaki-june-28-2021\"><span class=\"s1\">asked<\/span><\/a> about the topic at the daily press briefing on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A reporter asked Psaki, \u201cI believe, on Friday\u2019s briefing, you had mentioned that the President would be speaking about voting rights this week at an event. I didn\u2019t see that on his schedule. Can you talk to us a little bit about what that event is and what he\u2019s going to be talking about?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Psaki responded, \u201cWell, he has a meeting with voting rights advocates today and with officials internally. So let me just note that first, which I think you\u2019re aware of. And we\u2019re working to determine when we can schedule remarks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt could \u2014 it could move in \u2014 just because of scheduling, it could move into next week, but I don\u2019t have anything to announce quite yet. He\u2019s looking forward to addressing the public. As we get his final date locked in, I can preview it for you in more detail,\u201d Psaki added.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/06\/29\/readout-of-president-joe-bidens-meeting-on-voting-rights\/\"><span class=\"s1\">readout<\/span><\/a> of Biden\u2019s \u201cVoting Rights\u201d meeting on Monday, The White House stated that he met \u201cwith White House Senior Advisors and outside experts to discuss voting rights in America,\u201d although it did not determine with whom the president and his team met, per <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/560670-biden-meets-with-advisers-and-experts-on-voting-rights?rl=1\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The White House added, \u201cThe President and this group discussed anti-voter legislation that has been proposed or recently passed by state legislatures, legislation pending before Congress, and&nbsp;recent actions taken by the Department of Justice to protect the right to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe President and his staff highlighted ways that the Administration will continue working with Congress to pass critical legislation and ramp up engagement with the American people on voting rights. The President also reiterated his unwavering determination to win the fight to protect the sacred right to vote in free and fair elections,\u201d it concluded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Democrats have pushed the message that there will be more to come on the topic of voting legislation in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After Republicans blocked the Democrats\u2019 attempt to get the election legislation through, Schumer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/559743-schumer-vows-next-steps-after-ridiculous-awful-gop-election-bill-filibuster?rl=1\"><span class=\"s1\">spoke<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;on the Senate floor, saying, \u201cI want to be clear about what just happened on the Senate floor. Every single Senate Republican just voted against starting debate \u2014 starting debate \u2014 on legislation to protect Americans\u2019 voting rights.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOnce again, the Senate republican (sic) minority has launched a partisan blockade of a pressing issue here in the United States Senate, an issue no less fundamental than the right to vote,\u201d Schumer noted.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOnce again Senate Republicans have signed their names in the ledger of history alongside Donald Trump, the big lie and voter suppression to their enduring disgrace. \u2026 But I want to be very clear about one thing: The fight to protect voting rights is not over, by no means,\u201d Schumer added, per&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/559743-schumer-vows-next-steps-after-ridiculous-awful-gop-election-bill-filibuster?rl=1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Hill,<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;describing the GOP filibuster as \u201cridiculous and awful.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cMake no mistake about it, it will not be the last time voting rights comes up for a debate in the Senate. \u2026 We have several serious options for how to reconsider this issue and advance legislation to combat voter suppression.
