Chip Roy introduced an amendment to the INVEST in America act that would allocate $5.7 billion to funding a border wall, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>The INVEST in America Act is a transportation bill proposed by House Democrats, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/roy.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/rep-roy-offers-surface-transportation-bill-amendment-strip-earmarks-and-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/31\/rep-chip-roy-cartels-have-operational-control-of-the-us-southern-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Rep. Chip Roy: \u2018Cartels Have Operational Control\u2019 Of The US Southern Border)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Roy released a statement following his proposal Monday:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats included nearly $5.7 billion in corrupt earmarks in the surface transportation measure that is expected to receive a vote this week in the House. Instead of using federal taxpayer dollars to fund pet projects like electric vehicle charging networks in California and million-dollar sidewalk expansions in Connecticut, Congress should redirect these funds to address the ongoing and very real crisis at our southern border.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.3254901960784\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Rep. My amendment would strike every single earmark from this legislation and instead authorize a $5.7 billion Border Wall Fund in Treasury to support the completion of a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border,\u201d said Roy, according to his press office.<\/p>\n<p>During a recent interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/25\/chip-roy-southern-border-kamala-harris-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roy questioned<\/a> why his state should remain in a union that will not secure its border.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the representative also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/15\/chip-roy-introduce-legislation-making-cartels-foreign-terrorist-organizations-congress-mexico-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">introduced legislation<\/a> that would designate cartels as terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Texas Rep.
