Ron DeSantis said the border crisis is an \u201cintentional policy rooted in an open borders ideology\u201d Sunday night while on the Fox News program, \u201cLife, Liberty &#038; Levin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked by host Mark Levin why President Joe Biden won\u2019t enact tougher immigration laws to try to curb illegal immigration, DeSantis explained that he believes it is due to an ideological divide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is intentional, Mark, and I\u2019m not sure how much Biden is engaged in this but certainly a lot of the people that have the sway in the White House on a day-to-day basis, I believe on an ideological basis, they believe in open borders. It has happened, and they really show a disregard for all the problems that emanate as a result of this,\u201d DeSantis continued. \u201cIt\u2019s a clear failure of leadership but I do believe that this is an intentional policy rooted in an open borders ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-four percent of voters said Biden should \u201cissue new, stricter policies to reduce the flow of people across the border,\u201d a\u00a0recent Harvard CAPS-Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/22\/voters-want-joe-biden-tougher-immigration-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/latino\/559564-majority-of-voters-say-biden-should-implement-stricter-immigration-policies-poll\">found<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty-five percent of those polled said Biden should have left Trump\u2019s policies in place. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/25\/vice-president-kamala-harris-southern-border-planned-visit-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Kamala Harris Says It Was \u2018Always The Plan\u2019 To Visit US-Mexico Border After Dodging It For Months)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe voters see the border as a growing problem and blame the Biden administration policies,\u201d pollster Mark Penn reportedly said. \u201cThe voters vastly underestimate the size of the problem and so once they learn it\u2019s nearly 200,000 a month making illegal crossings their temperatures rise on this issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden rescinded a slew of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/09\/donald-trump-criticizes-biden-administration-border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump-era<\/a> policies, such as the \u201cRemain in Mexico\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/01\/02\/remain-in-mexico-expanded-in-arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">policy<\/a>, which required migrants seeking asylum to remain in Mexico while their claims were processed. He also ended <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/01\/20\/proclamation-termination-of-emergency-with-respect-to-southern-border-of-united-states-and-redirection-of-funds-diverted-to-border-wall-construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">construction<\/a> along the border wall and tried to enact a 100-day deportation ban, which was later <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/24\/drew-tipton-blocks-joe-biden-deportation-freeze\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blocked<\/a> by a Trump-appointed judge.<\/p>\n<p>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/11\/biden-rescinds-trumps-unwarranted-national-emergency-declaration-at-southern-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">formally ended<\/a> Trump\u2019s national emergency declaration at the southern border in February, claiming it was \u201cunwarranted.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Florida Gov.
