Gavin Newsom\u2019s recall election challenge moved forward Wednesday after the deadline to remove names from petitions statewide passed.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.ca.gov\/administration\/news-releases-and-advisories\/2021-news-releases-and-advisories\/sw21028\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release<\/a> from California Secretary of State Shirley Weber announced 43 signatures had been withdrawn statewide from petitions to recall the California governor.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.0128205128205\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The California Secretary of State on Wednesday confirmed that the petition to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom still had a sufficient number of signatures after a 30-day period where voters were allowed to withdraw their names <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HquNPvMyVO\">https:\/\/t.co\/HquNPvMyVO<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hpyalZnNCL\">pic.twitter.com\/hpyalZnNCL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CBS Los Angeles (@CBSLA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSLA\/status\/1407876439081291780?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>California voters were given a 30-day period from April 26 to June 8 to request county officials remove their signatures from recall petitions, according to the press release. 1,719,900 verified signatures remain and meet the threshold for the recall election.<\/p>\n<p>Weber sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov\/recalls\/recall-notice-dept-finance.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">letter<\/a> to the Director of the Department of Finance Keely Martin Bosler, stating the department \u201cmust estimate the costs of the recall election and submit the estimate to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and the Chairperson of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee by August 5, 2021.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/26\/gavin-newsom-recall-election-petition-california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Gavin Newsom Will Officially Face Recall Election)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Newsom has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/15\/gavin-newsom-recall-election-counter-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a> the recall election effort a \u201cpartisan, Republican recall\u201d and said he would \u201cfight it.\u201d The Governor launched a counter \u201cStop the Republican Recall\u201d campaign in March. The campaign said the recall movement against Newsom is \u201cpowered by a partisan, Republican coalition of national Republicans, anti-vaxxers, QAnon conspiracy theorists, anti-immigrant activists, and Trump supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of fighting COVID-19, Republicans are pulling a page from the Trump playbook and attacking Californians.
