Mondaire Jones (D., N.Y.) <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/joe-biden-voting-rights-bills-voting-government-and-politics-1437f58f83a17f207e931b586955c650\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> the Associated Press he was perplexed by Biden&#8217;s response to his suggestion that the president become more involved in the party&#8217;s effort to pass so-called voting rights legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Jones said he approached Biden last week at the White House while attending a signing ceremony for the Republican-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/juneteenth-holiday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proclamation<\/a> making Juneteenth a federal holiday. The president &#8220;just sort of stared at me,&#8221; Jones said, noting the &#8220;awkward silence&#8221; that followed.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayo Clinic website lists &#8220;difficulty communicating or finding words&#8221; among the common signs of dementia, along with &#8220;confusion and disorientation.&#8221; An elderly person suffering from cognitive decline may also experience &#8220;difficulty handling complex tasks,&#8221; such as rallying a political party to support so-called voting rights legislation.<\/p>\n<p>The bizarre encounter, in Jones&#8217;s view, was an example of why Democratic activists have become increasingly frustrated with the Biden administration when it comes to so-called voting rights, an issue White House press secretary Jen Psaki has described as the &#8220;fight of [Biden&#8217;s] presidency.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Kamala Harris, who counts so-called voting rights among the lengthy <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/satire\/joe-biden-death-watch-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">portfolio of issues<\/a> on which she has been tasked to lead, has been similarly absent in the eyes of activists.<\/p>\n<p>The encounter Jones described is certain to fuel concerns about Biden&#8217;s mental health, especially after the president <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/biden-gaffes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bumbled<\/a> his way through the G7 Summit in England earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/biden-gaffes-deliver-new-embarrassments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">embarrassing<\/a> himself and his country in the process.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Biden Gaffes Deliver New Embarrassments\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8k2tJtFVoeY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Joe Biden, 78, appeared to exhibit symptoms commonly associated with dementia during a recent meeting with a Democratic congressman.
