White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/24\/jen-psaki-crime-epidemic-gun-problem\/\">in May<\/a> that America has a \u201cguns problem\u201d when asked about soaring <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/26\/white-house-confirms-biden-gun-control-executive-orders\/\">crime<\/a> rates.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s newly-announced \u201ccomprehensive strategy\u201d on stopping this violence focuses largely on guns, as Psaki suggested it would earlier this week. The administration laid out a multi-faceted plan regarding the issue that includes \u201cholding rogue firearms dealers accountable for violating federal laws\u201d and supporting local law enforcement \u201cwith federal tools and resources to help address summer violent crime.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/21\/joe-biden-address-nationwide-rise-violence\/\">(RELATED:\u00a0After Largely Avoiding The Topic Since Taking Office, Biden Plans To Address Nationwide Rise In Violence)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden also highlighted the Justice Department\u2019s recent announcement that it will launch new strike forces focused on \u201caddressing significant firearms trafficking corridors.\u201d The administration said it plans to post more detailed information about its enforcement and inspection findings of federally licensed firearm dealers. (Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs the President has repeatedly said, we are experiencing an epidemic of gun violence in this country,\u201d a press release from the White House read. \u201cThis violence robs us of loved ones and causes life-altering physical injuries. It causes lasting trauma, with cascading consequences for children, families, and communities. It steals our freedom, our sense of belonging and security, and has ripple effects for our economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to focusing on guns, Biden announced efforts to invest in community violence interventions. The administration said it plans to put together a \u201ccommunity violence interventions collaborative\u201d made up of 51 jurisdictions that will use some funding from the American Rescue Plan \u201cto increase investment in their CVI infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jurisdictions partaking in this <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/08\/white-house-dodges-when-asked-if-the-senate-will-actually-pass-background-check-legislation\/\">initiative<\/a> in including Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Georgia and Los Angeles, California.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the next 18 months, the Administration will convene meetings with officials from these communities, facilitate peer-to-peer learning, and provide technical assistance,\u201d according to the press release. \u201cThis effort will support both proven and new strategies that reduce gun violence and strengthen community-based infrastructure to enhance public safety for children, families, and communities and to advance equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also plans to focus on helping formally incarcerated individuals successfully re-enter the community.
