Juneteenth, observed annually on June 19, commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement by Union soldiers in Galveston, Texas, that all enslaved black people in the state were free, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nmaahc.si.edu\/blog-post\/historical-legacy-juneteenth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Museum of African American History and Culture<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CQX9Na4tiTV\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">viral Instagram post<\/a>, there are four pictures: one of Harris speaking, one of female senators at a long table and two close-ups taken from the photos showing other people standing nearby. Text in the image reads, \u201cThe democRATS celebrating juneteenth (end of slavery) with their black servants in the background.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The photos were taken at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/06\/16\/politics\/kamala-harris-dinner-female-senators\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bipartisan dinner party<\/a> for female senators hosted by Harris prior to both Juneteenth\u2019s official establishment as a federal holiday and its observance this year. Democratic Michigan Sen. I am so proud of you!\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/06\/24\/fact-check-barack-obama-never-mentioned-juneteenth-presidency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Image Claims Barack Obama Never Mentioned Juneteenth During His Presidency)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The private dinner took place June 15 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/about-the-white-house\/the-grounds\/the-vice-presidents-residence-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Naval Observatory<\/a> and was attended by Democratic and Republican female senators, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/06\/16\/politics\/kamala-harris-dinner-female-senators\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a>. Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmericaRpts\/status\/1405579260044120064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox News interview<\/a> that the dinner was a \u201ccompletely social evening centered on relationship building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no shop talk at this,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmericaRpts\/status\/1405579260044120064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also said<\/a>. \u201cThis is an annual bipartisan dinner that the women of the Senate hold.
