Biden and Democrats have sought to expand the definition of infrastructure \u2014 which polls well with Americans \u2014beyond simply roads and bridges. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/08\/ted-cruz-democrats-infrastructure-bill-deceptive-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: \u2018It\u2019s All A Marketing Game\u2019: Cruz Torches Democrats\u2019 Infrastructure Bill Spending)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At least 11 cities <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/video\/why-bidens-infrastructure-plan-calls-for-highway-teardowns\/87C777B1-AFEF-4010-8895-347A0B79BEE7.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">across the country<\/a>, including Austin, Texas, Baltimore, Maryland and Detroit, Michigan, are seeking federal funding from the bill to remove highways, however. Activists claim that they cut through African-American communities, and caused divisions still present today. Biden\u2019s plan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/trafficandcommuting\/highway-removal-infrastructure\/2021\/03\/31\/effd6a26-9234-11eb-a74e-1f4cf89fd948_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">seeks to allocate $20 billion<\/a> for a fund to \u201creconnect\u201d these communities by removing the downtown highways. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/16\/chuck-schumer-infrastructure-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Schumer Meets With Democrats About Passing Key Infrastructure Priorities On A Party-Line Vote)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The jobs plan has been bogged down in negotiations between Republicans and the White House, however, and there is no end in sight. Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jonathanponciano\/2021\/03\/28\/biden-new-3-trillion-stimulus-plan-infrastructure\/?sh=4dccbae01232\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced in late May<\/a> that he is willing to split his jobs plan into two packages, which could allow the infrastructure portion to pass more easily.<\/p>\n<p>But the smaller infrastructure package may face the same issue, as Democrats, like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/21\/schumer-medicare-expansions-bidens-infrastructure-families-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">are seeking to include<\/a> Medicare expansions in the bill, which falls well outside the traditional definition of infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer and other Democrats have expressed impatience while negotiating with Republicans, arguing for an end to the filibuster to allow a party-line 51-50 vote to pass the legislation. Democratic Sens.
