Yet despite the inherent potential for influence peddling, the legacy media \u2014 which spent the last five years questioning every detail of the Trump family\u2019s business deals \u2014 have not reported a single story about the latest possible Biden bribery scandal.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden produces abstract works of art by blowing alcohol ink through a metal straw. His creations will receive an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-bidens-weird-artwork-to-get-nyc-exhibition-expected-to-fetch-1-million\">exhibition<\/a> in New York City, where experts believe they will sell for up to $1 million apiece. The floor for a Hunter Biden original is reportedly $75,000.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s well above the average starving artist, whom the industry website ArtBusiness <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artbusiness.com\/artists-how-to-price-your-art-for-sale.html\">encouarges<\/a> to \u201cpay yourself $20 an hour for your art,\u201d although if your art \u201cturns out to be more expensive than what other artists in your area charge for similar art, you may have to rethink your pricing, [and] pay yourself a little less per hour perhaps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Hunter Biden is no average man. Alex Acevedo, who owns Manhattan\u2019s Alexander Gallery, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/06\/15\/hunter-bidens-artwork-is-actually-good-experts-say\/\">told<\/a> the New York Post that\u00a0\u201canybody who buys [Biden\u2019s art] would be guaranteed instant profit,\u201d because \u201che\u2019s the president\u2019s son. Everybody would want a piece of that.\u201d Another art consultant, Martin Galindo, told the Post,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m very positive that he\u2019s gonna do well in the market, because this industry is very much about, what\u2019s a simple way to put this \u2014 it\u2019s like clout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But who will be getting \u201ca piece\u201d of the Biden scion\u2019s \u201cclout\u201d? Whose money might funnel into the hands of the Biden family through an art auction? The art world shrouds Hunter Biden\u2019s financial transactions in secrecy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSales are always confidential to protect the privacy of the collector,\u201d said The Townsend Group, which represents Biden, in a media statement. \u201cThis is standard practice for transactions in galleries as well as auction houses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The potential to abuse these opaque transactions is well known. \u201cThe art world has a money laundering problem,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/07\/29\/business\/art-money-laundering-sanctions-senate\/index.html\">reported<\/a> CNN last July. The U.S. Senate\u2019s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations released a report last July which said \u201c[s]ecrecy, anonymity, and a lack of regulation create an environment ripe for laundering money and evading sanctions.\u201d Even the few anti-laundering policies employed by auction houses like Sotheby\u2019s and Christie\u2019s are \u201clax\u201d and \u201ceasily circumvented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/hunter-biden-art-scam-disclose-buyers-jason-chaffetz\">Fox News op-ed<\/a>, former Congressman Jason Chaffetz called Hunter Biden\u2019s anonymous art auction \u201can open invitation to influence buyers\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"17\">\n<p><em>Art is subjective.\u00a0Who is to say just how much any piece is worth?\u00a0The purchases are confidential.\u00a0Who is to know if it\u2019s a foreign government, a drug cartel, or a Ukrainian oligarch buying access to the artist or his family?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Given the history of this particular son of this particular president, who could blame an oligarch for wanting to try?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We already know Hunter Biden has a history of leveraging his relationship with his father to score lucrative business deals and board positions.\u00a0We already know President Biden has a history of meeting with his son\u2019s clients and lying about it.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yet there has been no coverage from the <a News<\/a>. Only one of these outlets, the New York Times, reported on Biden\u2019s artwork in a celebratory human interest story titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/02\/28\/arts\/design\/hunter-biden-art.html\">There\u2019s a New Artist in Town. The Name Is Biden<\/a>.\u201d The story mentions the first son\u2019s desire to break into the art world but says nothing about the art world\u2019s sales anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>It also refers to Biden\u2019s enormous payments by the Ukrainian energy company Burisma while his father was vice president as \u201ccurious overseas dealings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Compare that to media treatment of the Trump family\u2019s business dealings. Critics tried to impeach Trump for allegedly violating the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/5-reasons-trump-isnt-going-be-impeached-aaron-bandler\">emolouments clause<\/a> of the U.S. Constitution, which legal experts said is <a href=\"https:\/\/hotair.com\/allahpundit\/2016\/11\/25\/former-bush-ethics-lawyer-the-electoral-college-should-block-trump-if-hes-violating-the-emoluments-clause-n239888\">inapplicable<\/a> to the Trump Organization\u2019s business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s largest news agency, the Associated Press, held Donald Trump\u2019s family <em>retroactively <\/em>accountable for foreign agreements signed before he ever became president. After spending an entire story listing Trump\u2019s foreign deals, the AP noted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/north-america-donald-trump-ap-top-news-new-delhi-international-news-14a2355aba214af9af72d54a1adf6c66\">next-to-the-last paragraph<\/a>, \u201cAll the projects were signed before President Trump took office, but promoting even existing business has raised ethics concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The AP did the same last September after the New York Times published an unverified report that Trump ran up $421 million in debt over an 18-year period almost exclusively before he took office. The AP <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ap-top-news-donald-trump-business-elizabeth-warren-national-security-042cc007c36cf773558bfd250c9701df\">article<\/a> claimed that \u201cethics experts see national security concern in Trump\u2019s debt.\u201d The first \u201cexpert\u201d quoted was Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who said Trump \u201cmay be vulnerable to financial blackmail from a hostile foreign power and God knows what else.\u201d Only 27 paragraphs into the story does the reporter cite anyone blunting the torrent of accusations \u2026 and only for one paragraph.<\/p>\n<p>After assuming office, the accusations continued. MSNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/trumps-no-foreign-deals-pledge-came-asterisk-msna1069941\">claimed<\/a> that Trump\u2019s company is \u201cliterally selling access to the president\u2019s son overseas.\u201d When President Trump kept his campaign promise to donate all profits earned overseas to the U.S. Treasury \u2014 cutting the government a check for <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/trump-org-reports-191000-profit-foreign-governments-cuts\/story?id=61303571\">$191,000<\/a> \u2014 ABC News reported, \u201cGovernment ethics watchdogs and congressional Democrats have questioned the president\u2019s pledge in the past.\u201d MSNBC\u2019s \u201cRachel Maddow Show\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/trump-s-banker-raises-eyebrows-unexpected-retirement-n1252222\">tried<\/a> to turn the retirement of a banker tied to Donald Trump into a scandal (although retirement at 60 is far from unusual in Europe).<\/p>\n<p>After Hunter Biden promised to avoid foreign business if his father became president, The Washington Post\u2019s Jennifer Rubin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2019\/10\/13\/media-needs-focus-real-corruption\/\">wrote<\/a> that the media should take it easy on him and \u201cfocus on the real corruption\u201d of the Trump family. \u201cIvanka, Jared, Eric and Donald Trump Jr. have been given the kid glove treatment by the media,\u201d Rubin asserted.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2019\/11\/01\/trump-brothers-claims-that-they-no-longer-profit-foreign-deals\/\">criticized<\/a> \u201cthe continued existence of Trump properties around the world,\u201d such as the president\u2019s golf course in Scotland. (Apparently upon taking office, Trump should have napalmed his course into oblivion.)<\/p>\n<p>The media\u2019s interest in business transparency has evaporated now that Hunter Biden has decided to ply his trade in an industry with an acknowledged money laundering problem. Chaffetz noted the media\u2019s double standard:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><em>After four years of unending exasperation from Democrats about the dealings of the Trump legitimate businesses,<\/em> <em>established before Donald Trump entered the political world, it would be reasonable to expect Hunter Biden to get some level of scrutiny. A few questions perhaps?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHave we heard a Democrat mention the \u201cemoluments clause\u201d yet?
