Maxine Waters claimed Saturday that members of former President Donald Trump\u2019s reelection campaign had helped to organize the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/23\/nonviolent-op-ed-maxine-waters-protesters-chauvin-floyd-get-more-confrontational-riots-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Waters<\/a> claimed to Jim Acosta on CNN that she had been \u201ctold\u201d that organizing for the riot had been going on within the Trump campaign. She further claimed that Trump surrogates opposed an investigation because they were afraid of being caught supporting those who swarmed the Capitol. <strong><a class=\"text-black\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/20\/hakeem-jeffries-defends-maxine-waters-kevin-mccarthy-sit-this-one-out\/\">(RELATED: \u2018Clean Up Your Mess\u2019: Hakeem Jeffries Defends Maxine Waters, Then Admits He Doesn\u2019t Know What She Said)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Acosta began the segment by asking Waters about the Republicans who had voted against giving Congressional Gold Medals to the Capitol Police officers during the riots, a move that she called \u201cunconscionable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waters said that Jan. 6 had been an invasion of democracy. She said, \u201cI want you to know that these are real domestic terrorists, and we are talking about the Proud Boys, we are talking about the Oathkeepers, we are talking about the KKK, we are talking about QAnon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow they are saying it is the FBI,\u201d Acosta prompted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey can say whatever they want to say,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/19\/trey-gowdy-maxine-waters-says-crazy-as-hell-things\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Waters<\/a> replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere did the money come from to send busloads of people in? Who supported them in all of this? \u2026 I am told that there was organizing taking place right in the Trump campaign,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/18\/we-mean-business-maxine-waters-daunte-wright-protest-encourages-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Waters<\/a> continued.<\/p>\n<p>A number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/01\/19\/politics\/capitol-riot-permits-trump-campaign-invs\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trump\u2019s former staffers<\/a> were involved with planning a \u201cMarch for Trump\u201d rally on the National Mall that took place Jan. 6 and was organized by Women for America First. A spokesman for the campaign denied any connection to the riot. According to AP,\u00a0 the campaign said it \u201cdid not organize, operate or finance the event.\u201d Although, some reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-01-22\/trump-campaign-paid-organizers-of-pre-riot-rally-2-7-million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> that the organizers of the rally were on \u201cthe campaign\u2019s payroll.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waters concluded by saying that she challenged the patriotism of anyone who disagreed with getting to the bottom of what happened on Jan. 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is outrageous what happened to us, that the Capitol of the United States was invaded by domestic terrorists, and they don\u2019t want to live up to it, and admit what took place,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic California Rep.
