They fawned over the body language of his handshake, while a former Secretary of State claimed that Biden was a better diplomat than they were.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t think of a more successful diplomatic mission in the twenty-first century than this one,\u201d said Joe Scarborough on Thursday\u2019s \u201cMorning Joe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Might he have heard of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/the-abraham-accords\/\">Abraham Accords<\/a>? Under President Donald Trump, the State Department negotiated peace treaties establishing diplomatic relations between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-trump-secures-another-peace-deal-between-israel-and-an-arab-nation\">Israel and four majority Muslim nations<\/a>: the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. The Biden administration subsequently encouraged employees to stop referring to the treaties as the \u201cAbraham Accords\u201d and call them only \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/state-department-shuns-term-abraham-accords\/\">normalization agreements<\/a>.\u201d It then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/what-could-go-wrong-biden-reverses-sanctions-on-iranian-oil-companies-ahead-of-nuclear-deal-talks\">lifted sanctions<\/a> on three former Iranian officials.<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough might also remember that the George W. Bush administration\u2019s policies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/what-could-go-wrong-biden-reverses-sanctions-on-iranian-oil-companies-ahead-of-nuclear-deal-talks\">convinced<\/a> Libyan dictator Mu\u2019ammar Qaddafi to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/teams-arrive-in-libya-to-dismantle-wmds.amp\">give up<\/a> his Weapons of Mass Destruction program. \u201cLibya\u2019s actions came after nine months of secret diplomacy,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2003\/12\/20\/world\/libya-to-give-up-arms-programs-bush-announces.html\">reported<\/a> The New York Times in 2003. President George W. Bush promised Colonel Qaddafi that, if he scrapped his WMD program, Libya could \u201cregain a secure and respected place\u201d in the world; Bush later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/bush-lifts-libya-sanctions\">eased sanctions<\/a> against Tripoli. Barack Obama <a href=\"http:\/\/therightswriter.com\/2011\/09\/king-obamas-war-put-al-qaeda-linked-extremist-in-charge-of-tripoli\/\">reversed course<\/a>, sent U.S. troops to <a href=\"http:\/\/therightswriter.com\/2011\/04\/reagan-would-not-support-obama-on-libya\/\">topple<\/a> Qaddafi without <a href=\"http:\/\/therightswriter.com\/2011\/06\/boehner-wimps-out-on-libya\/\">congressional authorization<\/a>, and turned the country over to an <a href=\"http:\/\/therightswriter.com\/2011\/09\/obamas-analysts-oops-we-put-muslim-radicals-in-charge-of-libya\/\">al-Qaeda affiliate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden reaped the goodwill and unearned praise, not only of the media, but of former career foreign policy experts. Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright hinted on Wednesday night\u2019s \u201cCuomo Prime Time\u201d that Joe Biden was a better diplomat than she was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBilateral diplomacy is basically the working tool for how to deliver messages, how to really know what you\u2019re going to say. And nobody is better at that than President Biden,\u201d said Albright, who served as top diplomat during Bill Clinton\u2019s second term in office, from 1997 to 2001. \u201cHe understands the importance of human relationships, of talking straight, and being prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a very important summit,\u201d Albright continued, because \u201cwe have a very different president from the one that [Putin] met with before, and a country where President Biden is making clear that we\u2019re back, that he understands our value system, that we believe in human rights and freedom, and that we know that we have responsibilities. And he knew what message he was going to deliver. And he delivered it very clearly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo replied that the Russian president also delivered a clear message, stating that \u201cPutin\u2019s actually also speaking to the white-fright Trump contingent, in our country, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Albright went on to call the Trump administration \u201ca tragic period in American history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sentiment stretched into the next hour, as Don Lemon credited the president with defending democracy against all its unspecified enemies, foreign and domestic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe Biden knows full well that democracy is under attack \u2014 not only around the world, but right here at home as well,\u201d said Don Lemon on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/don-lemon-reports-fake-news-about-himself\">newly eponymous CNN show<\/a> Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>The fawning media treatment began before the bilateral summit ever took place. CBS News anchor Norah O\u2019Donnell said that Biden would arrive \u201cat his first summit with the Russian leader with clear eyes.\u201d On ABC\u2019s \u201cWorld News Tonight,\u201d anchor David Muir told viewers President Biden was overly \u201cprepared for this\u201d t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate.<\/p>\n<p>It continued from the very first second the two world leaders met and grasped hands before sitting down for their unexpectedly short meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, these moments are about moments,\u201d CNN Chief National Security Correspondent Jim Sciutto said in Hallmark style. He added that during their \u201chandshake, Biden looked in the eye of Putin with a smile, and Putin looked away,\u201d which Sciutto considered part of the diplomatic art of \u201cpublic posturing and about how you project strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former CIA Director John Brennan similarly praised Biden\u2019s intellect, contrasting it with that of his predecessor. \u201cUnlike Trump, who was a novice, an amateur, and he stumbled through the issues \u2026 Biden is deeply knowledgeable about these issues and he can talk substantively in a way that Donald Trump never could.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the double standard continued until the last moment Biden left Geneva shortly after holding his own press conference. MSNBC\u2019s Chuck Todd proclaimed the president \u201cProfessor Biden,\u201d for his alleged desire to rise \u201cabove the meeting\u201d with his Russian counterpart. CNN\u2019s Jeff Zeleny gushed that Biden was so \u201ccomfortable in that moment, taking off his jacket.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Biden snapped at Zeleny\u2019s colleague, CNN\u2019s own Kaitlan Collins, he simply replied, \u201cThat was classic Joe Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The media\u2019s reaction to one of Biden\u2019s frequent flashes of temper, too, could not have contrasted more sharply with the way they covered Donald Trump. Last May, Aaron Rupar, Vox.com\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/authors\/aaron-rupar\/archives\/2\">associate editor<\/a> of politics and policy, tweeted a video of Donald Trump skipping Collins at a press conference when she did not respond promptly. \u201cTrump throws a fit when [Kaitlan Collins] of CNN tries to ask him a question and abruptly ends the press conference,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/atrupar\/status\/1259957665117110272\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.3351955307263\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump throws a fit when <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kaitlancollins?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@kaitlancollins<\/a> of CNN tries to ask him a question and abruptly ends the press conference <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/58AVZ9CABl\">pic.twitter.com\/58AVZ9CABl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/atrupar\/status\/1259957665117110272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Rupar showed much greater understanding of Biden\u2019s more heated, and more profane, dressing down of Collins. \u201cIt would\u2019ve served Biden better to not lose his temper with Kaitlan Collins. Biden never expressed confidence that Putin would change his behavior,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/atrupar\/status\/1405237355691319297\">tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.5272727272727\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It would&#8217;ve served Biden better to not lose his temper with Kaitlan Collins.
