The idea is to keep them selling week in and week out and is not about a quick hit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tivan also offered analysis on why Random House may not be too disappointed in the sales numbers. \u201cI suspect what the publisher is doing is also playing the long game to try to get a toe in for the bigger prize: the full Harry\/Meghan package,\u201d he told the outlet, adding, \u201cI think the plan is for some publisher to nab them for a multi-book deal for some eye-popping sum which I think could even exceed what PRH paid for the Obamas two books (around \u00a346m). So publishing the children\u2019s book can show the Sussexes what PRH can do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This isn\u2019t the first time Markle\u2019s book has been subject to mockery. As the Daily Wire previously<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/meghan-markle-accused-of-plagiarizing-childrens-book-author-defends-duchess\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>, when Random House announced the title and subject matter, eagle-eyed critics immediately noticed its resemblance to another children\u2019s book, \u201cThe Boy on the Bench,\u201d which was published in the UK in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe Boy on the Bench\u201d author, Corrinne Averiss, was quick to defend Markle, however, tweeting, \u201cReading the description and published excerpt of the Duchess\u2019s new book, this is not the same story or the same theme\u2026I don\u2019t see any similarities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Markle\u2019s book doesn\u2019t appear to be making much of a splash on her native shores either.
