Greg Abbott signed a bill Wednesday banning abortion if the landmark ruling Roe v. Wade is overturned.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/17\/supreme-court-abortion-case-mississippi-roe-wade-dobbs-jackson-womens-health\/\">announced<\/a>\u00a0in mid May that it had agreed to take up a major Mississippi abortion case that could directly challenge Roe v. Wade, sparking hope in pro-life advocates and fear among abortion proponents.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/20\/texas-don-huffines-greg-abbott-james-younger\/\">(RELATED: Texas Candidate Challenging Gov Abbott Promises To End Trans Surgeries For Minors)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Doctors or individuals who attempt to perform <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/25\/ohio-roe-v-wade-sanctuary-city-for-the-unborn\/\">abortions<\/a> would face a second degree felony under the bill, and if the unborn baby died \u201cas a result of the offense,\u201d the penalty would increase to a first degree felony with the potential of a life sentence.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.638418079096\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING!
