Cuison Villazor is also the chancellor\u2019s \u201csocial justice scholar\u201d and Mutcherson focuses on reproductive justice law and other activist causes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The email said that many classes on structural inequality already exist and more teachers are\u00a0 committed to adding discussion about race into their classroom. Current class sections for the fall will focus on \u201creproductive justice, family law, criminal justice, international law, and more.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The graduation requirements will change for incoming 1L students only. Current students are not required to take the \u201cRace Equity Graduation Requirement,\u201d though it is highly encouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>New York City\u2019s Yeshiva University law school, which ranks as the nation\u2019s 53rd best law school, made a similar announcement about graduation requirements. According to an email obtained by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/nyc-law-school-makes-systemic-racism-courses-a-graduation-requirement\/\"><span>Washington Free Beacon<\/span><\/a><span>, the curriculum shift was \u201cdesigned to help our students examine and understand racism in the law and throughout the legal system.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The law school will offer four new classes on \u201crace and law\u201d including topics such as \u201cRace and the Law,\u201d \u201cCritical Race Theory,\u201d \u201cIndigenous Rights in the Americas,\u201d and \u201cCross-Cultural Negotiation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Free Beacon reported:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15\">\n<p><i><span>The changes were spurred by the law school\u2019s dean, Melanie Leslie, who last year was one of the several law school deans who wrote to the American Bar Association Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, which accredits law schools, \u201curging it to require that schools address bias, cultural awareness, and anti-racism,\u201d the email states.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The American Bar Association has considered changing its rules to require anti-bias training. According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article?id=17485\"><span>Campus Reform<\/span><\/a><span>, the American Bar Association considered updating its standards to include \u201ca new section requiring law schools to provide training and education on bias, cross-cultural competency, and racism.\u201d The change would require 1L students to undergo bias training \u201cat the start of the program of legal education\u201d and \u201cat least once again before graduation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Other schools, such as Stanford University, have taken antiracism past the point of the classroom and developed research labs to study the effects of racism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.stanford.edu\/today\/2021\/02\/16\/democracy-work-racial-inequalities-must-addressed\/\"><span>Stanford Today<\/span><\/a><span>, the university created a Stanford Center for Racial Justice focused on developing \u201cspecific policy and research interventions that can counter the racial disparities perpetuated by school programs\u201d and \u201cdismantle the systemic racism and interlocking oppressions built into those educational policies and practices.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Related<\/strong>: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/this-is-about-power-black-theologian-voddie-t-baucham-exposes-demonic-ideology-behind-crt-blm-anti-racism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u2018This Is About Power\u2019: Black Theologian Voddie T.
