A short story. A short film from another country. Am I supposed to enjoy\u00a0<em>You\u2019ve Got Mail<\/em><i>\u00a0<\/i>less because it\u2019s\u00a0based on a film that was based on a play? Must every film bro stop talking about\u00a0<em>The Departed<\/em>\u00a0because it\u2019s a\u00a0remake of a movie from Hong Kong?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHollywood doesn\u2019t work the way random people on Twitter think it does, where there\u2019s an executive sitting in a room with two scripts \u2014 one that says GENERIC MARVEL MOVIE and one that says EDGY ORIGINAL STORY\u00a0<i>\u2014\u00a0<\/i>and he\u2019s so busy chomping his cigar that he makes the wrong decision every time,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Is Hollywood truly \u201cout of ideas\u201d? A recent episode of Honest Trailers mocking the Disney reboot \u201cCruella\u201d makes it evidently clear that, yes, Hollywood has truly run out of ideas. In fact, as the episode demonstrates, not only has H0llywood run out of ideas, the industry has now resorted to mining the most insignificant and minuscule of details to create content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 1999, we\u2019ve had quas-redemptive villain origin stories for Darth Vader, the Joker, Maleficent, the Wizard of Oz, Hannibal Lecter, Nurse Ratched, Norman Bates, Magneto, Saul Goodman, Godzilla, the apes from \u2018Planet of the Apes,\u2019 Venom, and the Minions,\u201d the narrator in the episode says before highlighting the next insufferable wave of movies that will follow this undying trend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut now, before we get the quas-redemptive origin stories from Gru (\u201cDespicable Me\u201d), the Wicked Witch of the West (\u201cWicked\u201d), the Targaryens (\u201cHouse of the Dragons\u201d), the bad guy from \u2018Robocop,\u2019 the Orphan from the \u2018Orphan\u2019 movie and Madea,\u201d it continued. \u201cMake room in your wallet for one more \u2018Vilquel,\u2019 cause here comes \u2018Cruella.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Honest Trailers | Cruella\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Eia5v9m3iCY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>On the very same day that Honest Trailers lampooned Hollywood\u2019s obsession with reboots, BoundingIntoComics <a href=\"https:\/\/boundingintocomics.com\/2021\/06\/15\/disney-announces-new-beauty-and-the-beast-live-action-prequel-musical-series\/\">reported<\/a> Disney\u2019s latest announcement that it will be creating a \u201cnew \u2018Beauty and the Beast live-action prequel musical series.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisney+ announced that a new live-action Beauty And The Beast prequel series is in development,\u201d reported the outlet. \u201cThe series, titled Beauty and the Beast, will see Josh Gad and Luke Evans reprise their roles as LeFou and Gaston from the 2017 live-action film.
