(Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>On Jan. 27, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/01\/27\/executive-order-on-tackling-the-climate-crisis-at-home-and-abroad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">signed<\/a> the executive order banning new oil and gas leases on federal lands. The order was part of a series of executive actions that Biden signed shortly after taking office and were aimed at tackling climate change. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/09\/keystone-xl-pipeline-joe-biden-montana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Keystone XL Pipeline Project Terminated, Developer Says)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But in March, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/10\/republican-attorneys-general-joe-biden-administration-keystone-climate-change-taxation-immigration\/\">Landry<\/a>, joined by 12 other attorneys general, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/24\/louisiana-jeff-landry-thirteen-states-lawsuit-energy-oil-gas-leasing-president-joe-biden-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sued<\/a> the president and his administration, arguing the ban was illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ag.state.la.us\/Files\/Article\/10878\/Documents\/Louisianav.Bidenfinal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawsuit<\/a> alleged that Biden\u2019s order violated the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act and the Mineral Leasing Act, which were both passed by Congress and affirmed the federal government\u2019s intent to achieve energy independence using U.S. resources.
