Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is \u201claughing at every person in America\u201d as he goes to space while allegedly paying minimal taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>TMZ <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2021\/06\/10\/elizabeth-warren-rips-jeff-bezos-trip-space-blue-origin-taxes\/\"><span>encountered<\/span><\/a><span> Warren in Reagan National Airport and asked her \u201cabout the world\u2019s richest man adding himself to the first crewed flight to space for his aerospace company, Blue Origin.\u201d Warren took the opportunity to blast the entrepreneur for allegedly neglecting to pay his taxes:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sen. Elizabeth Warren Rips Jeff Bezos for Space Trip, Claims We&#039;re All Paying for it | TMZ\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eG3salRjRT4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cLook, he\u2019s laughing at every person in America who actually paid taxes,\u201d Warren told the entertainment news outlet. \u201cJeff Bezos\u2019 trip to outer space is being financed by all the rest of the U.S. taxpayers who paid their taxes so that Jeff Bezos didn\u2019t have to. And Jeff Bezos kept all his money and used it on his space ticket.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Warren\u2019s comments emerge one week after investigative journalism website ProPublica analyzed illegally-leaked income tax records to show that some American billionaires pay no income taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Daily Wire previously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fact-check-do-the-rich-really-pay-no-taxes\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> that the ProPublica report neglects several pieces of context \u2014 including the fact that \u201cthe highest-earning Americans overall pay the lion\u2019s share of U.S. income taxes, while the bottom half of income earners pay less than 3% of all income taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March, Warren <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elizabeth-warren-proposes-ultra-millionaire-wealth-tax\"><span>proposed<\/span><\/a><span> an \u201cultra-millionaire\u201d tax that would seize wealth from Americans in order to pay for President Biden\u2019s spending agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to a statement about her bill:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><i><span>The ultra-rich and powerful have rigged the rules in their favor so much that the top 0.1% pay a lower effective tax rate than the bottom 99%, and billionaire wealth is 40% higher than before the COVID crisis began\u2026 This is money that should be invested in child care and early education, K-12, infrastructure, all of which are priorities of President Biden and Democrats in Congress. I\u2019m confident lawmakers will catch up to the overwhelming majority of Americans who are demanding more fairness, more change, and who believe it\u2019s time for a wealth tax.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>More recently, Rep. Thomas Suozzi (D-NY) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democratic-congressman-wants-patriot-tax-for-wealthy-americans\"><span>proposed<\/span><\/a><span> a \u201cPatriot Tax\u201d that would force those with a net worth over $50 million to surrender 2.5% of their wealth to the federal government.
