Lehane said cities could use these tools to flag properties that violate the eviction ban, notifying Airbnb directly. More than 40 governments and tourism organizations around the world have access to those tools,\u201d The Post reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Airbnb has reportedly also named Andrew Kalloch to work with cities on the new efforts as its \u201canti-eviction administrator.\u201d \u201cKalloch currently serves as the company\u2019s senior policy development manager,\u201d per The Post.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOver the coming weeks, led by Mr. Kalloch, Airbnb will engage cities on implementing the COVID-19 Renter Protection Policy in their communities. This outreach will include a specific focus on those cities that are experiencing a high rate of evictions,\u201d the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbreak.com\/news\/2281411054971\/airbnb-blocking-landlords-from-listing-properties-where-tenants-were-evicted\"><span class=\"s1\">statement<\/span><\/a> added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, both the federal government and select states have taken efforts to ban landlords from evicting tenants who were not able to pay their rent, at the direction of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/as-cdc-extends-ban-on-evictions-smaller-landlords-struggle-to-keep-properties\">reported<\/a> by The Daily Wire in March, the CDC extended its suggested moratorium on evictions through the end of June, causing some landlords to struggle to keep up with costs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic has presented a historic threat to the nation\u2019s public health,\u201d said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2021\/0329-Eviction-Moratorium.html\"><span class=\"s1\">statement<\/span><\/a> at the time. \u201cKeeping people in their homes and out of crowded or congregate settings \u2014 like homeless shelters \u2014 by preventing evictions is a key step in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The ban was originally set to run out at the end of March but was extended. The Biden administration has requested that the Supreme Court further extend the moratorium after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/20\/20A169\/180893\/20210603170521964_SCOTUS%20Application%20to%20Vacate%20Stay.pdf\">group of real estate professionals asked<\/a> the Court to end the measure. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/03\/29\/covid-eviction-ban-forces-some-landlords-to-sell-properties.html\">Smaller landlords have reportedly been harder hit<\/a> than larger corporations by the efforts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The moratorium has faced several legal hurdles. As NBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/supreme-court\/landlord-group-asks-supreme-court-lift-moratorium-evicting-tenants-n1269578\">reported<\/a> earlier this month, a group representing some landlords said that keeping the moratorium \u201c\u2018will prolong the severe financial burdens borne by landlords under the moratorium for the past nine months.\u201d The emergency application was \u201cdirected to Chief Justice John Roberts filed by the Alabama Association of Realtors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201c\u2018Landlords have been losing over $13 billion every month under the moratorium, and the total effect of the CDC\u2019s overreach may reach up to $200 billion if it remains in effect for a year.\u2019 With the pandemic winding down the application said, the need for the eviction ban is fading,\u201d the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
