It is here, and it threatens the US economy and its financial system,\u201d says the group of lawyers, which was spearheaded by California. \u201cGiven the demand from investors for such disclosures, the significance of climate change risk to companies, and the importance of efficient capital allocation to climate-resilient companies, such disclosures are squarely in the public interest.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March, former SEC Acting Chair Allison Herren Lee <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/news\/public-statement\/lee-climate-change-disclosures\"><span>welcomed<\/span><\/a><span> public comment about \u201cwhether current disclosures adequately inform investors, public input is requested from investors, registrants, and other market participants on climate change disclosure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The deadline to submit public comment to the SEC is June 15. Among the questions posed by the agency were:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"36\">\n<p><i><span>How can the Commission best regulate, monitor, review, and guide climate change disclosures in order to provide more consistent, comparable, and reliable information for investors while also providing greater clarity to registrants as to what is expected of them?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>How, if at all, should registrants disclose their internal governance and oversight of climate-related issues?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>What are the advantages and disadvantages of developing a single set of global standards applicable to companies around the world, including registrants under the Commission\u2019s rules, versus multiple standard setters and standards?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>What are the advantages and disadvantages of a \u201ccomply or explain\u201d framework for climate change that would permit registrants to either comply with, or if they do not comply, explain why they have not complied with the disclosure rules?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>What climate-related information is available with respect to private companies, and how should the Commission\u2019s rules address private companies\u2019 climate disclosures, such as through exempt offerings, or its oversight of certain investment advisers and funds?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The SEC\u2019s consideration of new climate change regulations occurs as China \u2014 the world\u2019s leading producer of greenhouse gas emissions \u2014 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/as-biden-pushes-climate-change-efforts-china-walks-back-theirs-to-ramp-up-growth\"><span>scraps<\/span><\/a><span> its climate goals to prioritize economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
