Biden told reporters that the monarch asked him about Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9684107\/How-Joe-Biden-breached-royal-protocol-meeting-Queen.html?ito=push-notification&#038;ci=238457&#038;si=14821546&#038;ai=9684107\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outlet<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe [Queen Elizabeth II] wanted to know what the two leaders that I\u2026 the one I\u2019m about to meet with, Mr. Putin, and she wanted to know about Xi Jinping, and we had a long talk, and she was very generous,\u201d the president shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Queen is supposed to have told Michelle Obama that royal protocol was rubbish,\u201d royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explained to the outlet. \u201cIt has nonetheless been a rule that an audience with the Queen is strictly private and to reveal its contents is a breach of trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden, by revealing that the Queen had asked about the Russian and Chinese leaders, did breach this rule,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is very possible that, as the G7 sees itself as a bulwark of democracy against regimes such as Russia and China, that this comment may have been prearranged in line with this theme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President, who will soon be meeting President Putin, naturally gave no details,\u201d Fitzwilliams continued. \u201cBiden\u2019s revelation of what the Queen asked was surprising, but it appeared to emphasize the message of her government and its transatlantic ally, which is the world\u2019s only superpower, that there is a great deal of concern about the activities of President Putin\u2019s totalitarian regime and that of China\u2019s President Xi too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>POTUS also reportedly broke protocol when he kept his sunglasses on when he met the Queen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re meeting the Queen face-to-face there\u2019s no sunglasses or anything like that at all because eye contact is quite important with any introduction,\u201d Grant Harrold, a former butler to Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/joe-biden-protocol-breach-queen-elizabeth-ii-meeting-explained-royal-expert-grant-harrold-1600175\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsweek.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fine for Biden to have had sunglasses on but he should have removed them when he actually met the Queen,\u201d he added. \u201cEveryone else has to, it doesn\u2019t matter who you are, even royals remove sunglasses when they meet royals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one of those rules I always write about in my etiquette texts,\u201d Harrold continued. \u201cIt is a breach of protocol. I get the sun might have been shining in his eyes but the queen didn\u2019t have sunglasses on.
