You\u2019re looking at a younger version of myself. A comedian trying to be funny and, at that attempt, failing. Apologies were made. I understand now how it comes off. I look back and cringe. So it\u2019s growth. It\u2019s about growth.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWhen did we get to a point where life was supposed to be perfect? Where people were supposed to operate perfectly all the time? I don\u2019t understand,\u201d he continued. \u201cI don\u2019t expect perfection from my kids. I don\u2019t expect it from my wife, friends, employees. Because, last I checked, the only way you grow up is from f\u2014ing up. I don\u2019t know a kid who hasn\u2019t f***ed up or done some dumb sh\u2014.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">Per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/kevin-hart-cancel-culture-oscars-hosting-scandal\"><span class=\"s3\">Fox News<\/span><\/a><\/span>, \u201cHart made sure to note that people who have done something truly damaging to others should be held accountable and face consequences. However, he doesn\u2019t believe that\u2019s always the case when it comes to cancel culture, specifically in his situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hart made the suggestion that more people simply not agree with one another instead of saying people should be permanently removed from entertainment, the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cPeople get locked up so they can be taught a lesson,\u201d he explained. \u201cWhen they get out, they are supposed to be better. But if they come out and people go, \u2018I\u2019m not giving you a job because you were in jail\u2019 then what the f*** did I go to jail for? That was my punishment? How do you not give those people a shot? They\u2019re saying that all life should be over because of a mistake? Your life should end and there should be no opportunity to change? What are you talking about?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re not saying something to make people angry. That\u2019s not why I\u2019m on stage,\u201d Hart explained. \u201cI\u2019m trying to make you laugh and if I did not make you laugh I failed. That\u2019s my consequence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIf there\u2019s a message to take from anything I\u2019ve said,\u201d he ended. \u201cIt\u2019s that in this world of opinion, it\u2019s OK to just disagree. It\u2019s OK to not like what someone did and to say that person wasn\u2019t for me. We are so caught up in everybody feeling like they have to be right and their way is the only way. Politics is f***ed up because, if you don\u2019t choose our side, you\u2019re dumb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hart stepped aside from hosting the 2019 Academy Awards after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/kevin-hart-steps-down-from-oscar-hosting-gig-after-past-staments\"><span class=\"s1\">some of his previous jokes and tweets drew criticism<\/span><\/a> and the Academy requested that he apologize, as The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-hart-caves-apologizes-over-oscars-controversy-i-did-f-up\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI have made the choice to step down from hosting this year\u2019s Oscars \u2026 this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists,\u201d he wrote on Twitter. \u201cI sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He added, \u201cI\u2019m sorry that I hurt people. I am evolving and want to continue to do so.
