The claim appears to originate from a satire website.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cpi.pdf\">consumer price index inflation report<\/a> showed a 5 percent increase in prices in May over the last year, the biggest increase since August 2008, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/advisor\/investing\/why-is-inflation-rising-right-now\/\">Forbes<\/a>. The sharp increase in inflation is, in large part, due to the reopening of the economy after it was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>Now, some social media users are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=10218458963242496&#038;set=a.4753036500966\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sharing<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mackdee.familia\/posts\/4291760934176605\">posts<\/a> claiming Biden proposed a \u201c$2 Trillion Bill To Study What\u2019s Causing Inflation Rates To Rise.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/08\/25\/fact-check-joe-biden-kamala-harris-defund-social-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Joe Biden Say He And Kamala Harris Will Defund Social Security?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence, however, Biden proposed such a bill. Check Your Fact searched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/\">press releases<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/\">speeches<\/a> published on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/?s=inflation+bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White House website<\/a>, but found no indication Biden announced a bill to study the cause of rising inflation rates. No such bill could be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/search?q=%7B%22congress%22:%5B%22117%22%5D,%22source%22:%22all%22,%22search%22:%22inflation%20rise%20%242%20trillion%22%7D&#038;searchResultViewType=expanded\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Congress.gov<\/a>, either. Had Biden announced a $2 trillion plan to that effect, media outlets certainly would have reported on it, yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Biden+%242+trillion+plan+rising+inflation+rates&#038;rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS890US890&#038;ei=ndfDYK-oF5Hl_QbinbEQ&#038;oq=Biden+%242+trillion+plan+rising+inflation+rates&#038;gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EANQ2agCWIbKAmCGywJoAXAAeACAAZ0BiAGzBpIBAzkuMZgBAKABAaoBB2d3cy13aXrAAQE&#038;sclient=gws-wiz&#038;ved=0ahUKEwjv6pSGxZDxAhWRct8KHeJODAIQ4dUDCA4&#038;uact=5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">none<\/a> have done so.<\/p>\n<p>The claim appears to stem from a May 10 <a href=\"https:\/\/babylonbee.com\/news\/biden-proposes-2-trillion-bill-to-study-whats-causing-inflation-to-rise\">article<\/a> published on The Babylon Bee, a <a href=\"https:\/\/babylonbee.com\/about\">self-described<\/a> \u201cworld\u2019s best satire site, totally inerrant in all its truth claims.\u201d While The Babylon Bee clearly discloses the satirical nature of its website, social media users have been sharing the claim without any Disclaimers, seemingly believing the erroneous claim to be true.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time social media users have shared inaccurate information about Biden\u2019s policies.
