During a visit to an Ohio Air Force base on Friday, House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) voiced his opposition to the budget, which he argues will decrease U.S. capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The White House unveiled the proposal at the end of May, which requests $715 billion in defense spending. This is a slight increase from the $703 billion in 2021.
