Indeed, the Biden administration <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-caves-to-worlds-leading-state-sponsor-of-terrorism-prepared-to-lift-sanctions-on-iran\"><span>hinted<\/span><\/a><span> in April that it would be willing to roll back sanctions \u201cinconsistent with the JCPOA.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Secretary of State Antony Blinken <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/u-s-sanctions-international-network-enriching-houthis-in-yemen\/\"><span>wrote<\/span><\/a><span> in a June 10 press release:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p><span>The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of State are lifting sanctions on three former Government of Iran officials, and two companies previously involved in the purchase, acquisition, sale, transport, or marketing of Iranian petrochemical products, as a result of a verified change in status or behavior on the part of the sanctioned parties. These actions demonstrate our commitment to lifting sanctions in the event of a change in status or behavior by sanctioned persons.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The Treasury Department also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/news\/press-releases\/jy0221\"><span>cited<\/span><\/a><span> a \u201cchange in behavior\u201d in their parallel release:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"7\">\n<p><span>These delistings are a result of a verified change in behavior or status on the part of the sanctioned parties and demonstrate the U.S. government\u2019s commitment to lifting sanctions in the event of a change in behavior or status for sanctioned persons.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Last year, the Trump administration imposed sanctions on the National Iranian Oil Company and other Iranian entities as the nation\u2019s government used the revenues to fund Islamic terrorism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Wall Street Journal <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-sanctions-iran-s-petroleum-ministry-national-iranian-oil-company-tanker-subsidiary-11603733657?mod=article_inline\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> in October:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><span>The Trump administration on Monday imposed counterterrorism sanctions on Iran\u2019s Ministry of Petroleum, the National Iranian Oil Company and its tanker subsidiary\u2026 The Treasury Department also blacklisted more than a dozen other Iranian state energy firms and their subsidiaries, and top officials at the ministry and the firms, which include the National Petrochemical Company and the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company. Those targeted represent a large portion of Iran\u2019s most important revenue-earning sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin remarked that \u201cthe regime in Iran uses the petroleum sector to fund the destabilizing activities of the IRGC-QF.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Likewise, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that \u201cthe few remaining buyers of Iranian crude oil should know that they are helping to fund Iran\u2019s malign activity across the Middle East, including its support for terrorism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Both of the Biden administration\u2019s announcements were buried in the two agencies\u2019 press releases, which levied new sanctions on members of a smuggling network \u201cled by Iran-based Houthi financier Sa\u2019id al-Jamal\u201d that \u201cgenerates tens of millions of dollars in revenue from the sale of commodities, like Iranian petroleum, a significant portion of which is then directed through a complex network of intermediaries and exchange houses in multiple countries to the Houthis in Yemen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Andrea Gacki \u2014 the director of the Treasury Department\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control \u2014 explained that \u201cending the suffering of millions of Yemenis is of paramount concern to the United States, and we will continue to hold accountable those responsible for widespread misery and deny them access to the global financial system.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For the past six years, the Iran nuclear deal \u2014 from which President Trump withdrew in 2018 \u2014 has been the subject of criticism from those in charge of Israel\u2019s national defense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last month, outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/netanyahu-confronts-blinken-iran-deal-paves-the-way-for-nuclear-iran\"><span>concerns<\/span><\/a><span> about the deal to Secretary Blinken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI can tell you that I hope that the United States will not go back to the old JCPOA because we believe that that deal paves the way for Iran to have an arsenal of nuclear weapons with international legitimacy,\u201d said Netanyahu. \u201cWe also reiterated that whatever happens, Israel will always reserve the right to defend itself against a regime committed to our destruction, committed to getting the weapons of mass destruction for that end.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
