Austin III (@SecDef) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecDef\/status\/1403058208546209793?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 10, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The directive is classified, but a senior <\/span><span>Department of Defense<\/span><span> official shared one example of the extent of the message. \u201cTo ensure that the department has the people that we need to compete effectively, the secretary has tasked \u2026 the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness with updating professional military education and civilian professional development, to align the department with the prioritization of <\/span><span>China<\/span><span>,\u201d the official said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/10\/biden-china-pentagon-lloyd-austin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ordered<\/a> the Pentagon in February to create a task force to review our policy toward China, saying the Chinese actions on the global stage require a new strategy. The task force created a plan to counter China using our military, economic, political, and other capabilities.<\/p>\n<p><span>Austin proposed a $715 billion Defense Department <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/07\/bartels-carving-up-defense-budget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">budget<\/a> in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday. He said the funding would help the U.S. match the challenge he sees in China, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/06\/11\/asia\/us-military-focus-china-intl-hnk\/index.html?utm_source=feedburner&#038;utm_medium=feed&#038;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_topstories+%28RSS%3A+CNN+-+Top+Stories%29\"><span>CNN<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/24\/republican-rep-jody-hice-defense-sec-lloyd-austin-removal-space-force-officer\/\"><b>(RELATED: Republican Rep. The five-year initiative will upgrade <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/19\/analysis-watch-these-chinese-military-ads-then-these-american-military-ads-which-country-wins-wars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">forces<\/a> around the region. These include the Aegis Ashore missile defense system for Guam, new radar defenses for Hawaii, more intelligence and surveillance assets, more Navy, Air Force, and Marine <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/18\/victor-davis-hanson-why-is-our-military-choosing-new-enemies\/\"><span>troops<\/span><\/a><span> in the region, and more training with allies, according to CNN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Republican Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe and Democratic Rhode Island Sen.
